S1 – Wild Flower Garden

Thank you to all our first year pupils who braved the elements to help start work on the wild flower garden sponsored by Kew Garden at the old water works site in Barrhead.  The pupils took part in a range of activities including litter picks, cutting up logs, planting Silver Birch trees and clearing weeds from the old sewage tanks. The pupils are working towards achieving their Discovery Level John Muir Award and will make further trips to the site before the end of the session. The pupils were a credit to the school and the local community.

Scottish National Swimming Championships – Dec 2013

Kirsty McGinley (S3) recently took part in the above swimming championships and had a fabulous weekend smashing PB’s in every event she entered.

Kisrty’s new times are as follows:

800m freestyle – 9:39:87
400m freestyle – 4:45:29
100m Individual Medley – 1:12:74
400m Individual Medley – 5:16.41

In the 400M Individual Medley, Kirsty came 17th out of 72 entries – a fabulous achievement considering Kirsty was swimming against the best young swimmers in Scotland and England.

Kirsty’s next big event will be later this month when she returns to the Commonwealth Pool for the East Districts Championship.
