Girls Basketball Club

Do you have an interest in basketball and  want to start playing? Come along to the Games Hall every Monday after school to Miss Walker’s basketball club. Please be ready in your PE kit ready to begin at 3.45pm and we will be finished by 4.45pm. Girls of all ages and abilities welcome.

If you would like to come and speak to me to find out more information you will find me in Geography room 37, or just come along on Mondays.

SQA Results – Tuesday, 5th August

The SQA examination results will be available from Tuesday, 5th August. Mrs Crawford (Depute Head) will be available all of Tuesday to discuss any queries regarding SQA results or subject level changes.

Please contact the school office in the normal way if you have any queries regarding your results.

Swimming Success!

Kirsty McGinley (S4) recently attended a swim meet and won 2 gold medals.

The first medal came in the 400m Individual Medley, with Kirsty recording a time of 5:12:74 mins; a 4 Sec improvement on her personal best.

A second gold medal was won in the 1500m Freestyle event.  Kirsty beat her Personal Best by an incredible 27 Secs, recording a time of 18:53:79 mins.

Well done and keep up the hard work.

East Renfrewshire Young Team Clean Up

Only 2 weeks after winning the Voluntary Group of the Year category of the official East Renfrewshire Volunteer Awards 2014 organised by local MP Jim Murphy and MSP Ken MacIntosh, the Young Team were back in action cleaning up graffiti.

Over the session they have been involved in a number of projects which have helped give something back to the community of Barrhead and the East Renfrewshire area.

A big well done and thank you to all the young folk who have participated and a special thank you to our Campus Cop, Alan Walker, for leading this project.

ERC Sports Day – Medalists

he following Barrhead High students achieved either a Bronze, Silver or Gold medal at the recent ER Sports Day.
Well done to all of the pupils that were involved!
S1 Girls – Shot Put: 1st – Iona McDermott, 3rd – Iona Ross.

S3 Girls – 1500M – 2nd -Kirsty McGinley.

S3 Boys – High Jump – 2nd – Adam Innes.

S3 Boys – Relay – 3rd – Stephen Pringle; Connor Davidson; Conrod Proctor; Lucas O’Neil.

Hustings Meetings for senior students

Two hustings meetings have been arranged for senior pupils who will be eligible to vote in September’s Independence Referendum.

The meetings will be held on:

1.         Wednesday, 11th June in Williamwood High School

and

2.         Monday, 16th June in Barrhead High School.

Both meetings will start at 7pm and include speakers from the Yes and Better Together campaigns.  Pupils will then be given an opportunity to ask questions.

Cycling Madness at Barrhead High

A big thank you to all the pupils who took part in the Barrhead Cyclo-cross event held in the Cowan Park on Monday, 12th of June. Six high schools from around East Renfrewshire were involved, with Woodfarm High School the eventual winners. A great day was had by all.

A special thanks to: Mr. Boag, Miss. Booth, Mr. Russell, Miss. Van Looy, Mr. Maclean, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Nugent, Miss. Chirnside & Mr. Brown.

Girls Netball Success

WELL DONE GIRLS!!

A huge well done to all girls below who were part of Barrhead High School Netball Team. The girls represented the school in the ER Netball Tournament held at St Ninian’s last week. The girls were excellent ambassadors for the school and played to a very high standard.
Amy Stewart, Jessica Christie, Iona Coogan Horne, Lauren Kelly, Chloe Brown, Emily Thompson, Ashley MacIntyre, Allana Bowden, Briony Giblin, Daniella Mundemba, Ailidh Hamilton.
