Focused Areas of Learning – Sciences – Humpty Dumpty Egg Dropping

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class enjoyed today’s science experiment where we tried to protect our Humpty Dumpty eggs from a big fall. We chose from a range of materials which would cushion Humpty Dumpty from a big fall. We had lego bricks, pasta, rice, cotton balls, baked beans, shredded paper and water to choose from.

We loved our science experiment and found that baked beans and rice were the only cushions that kept Humpty Dumpty safe during his fall.

The Daisies class enjoyed decorating our boiled eggs today. We chose to transform them into spring chickens because we have been practising the spring chicken song ahead of our Easter Service and really enjoying it.

We painted our eggs white and used feathers and orange card to decorate some chicken features.

We are excited to go to the Kay Park tomorrow to roll our decorated eggs down a big hill.

We walked to the Kay Park and had fun rolling our decorated eggs down the big hill!

Focused Areas of Learning – Science – Exploding Snowmen!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Daisies class had great fun with our science experiment today. We decorated zip lock bags with snowmen faces. We added 3 teaspoons of baking soda to the centre of a piece of tissue paper and wrapped it up. We placed the tissue paper parcel in the bottom of the ziplock bag. Finally, we added a cup of vinegar and then had to be very quick to zip our bag up!

We observed the zip lock bag filling with air and puffing out. We absolutely loved this!

Eco Global Goal – Zero Hunger

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class were very responsible looking at the global goal ‘Zero Hunger’.  We looked closely at some pictures (the hungry caterpillar, Oliver Twist, Bruce Bogtrotter) and discussed whether they looked hungry or full.

We also spoke about how we would feel if we had a full tummy and also how we would feel if we had a hungry tummy.

Finally, we spoke about food that we liked and disliked and sorted them into categories on a poster.
