Dear Young People and Parents of Stewarton Academy,
The Institute of Physics Scotland are delighted to announce a new initiative at Stewarton Academy, one designed to bring cutting edge science to the community. “Science @ Stewarton” is a series of three evening events giving young people and their families a chance to learn about recent developments in science. There will be presentations and a chance to ask questions of experts in different fields.
The events will run 1830-2000 on Tuesday 24th January, Thursday 23rd February and Thursday 30th March at the Academy.
Our first event will be delivered by Dr Karl Toland from the University of Glasgow, and is entitled “How colliding black holes can help us predict volcanic eruptions” – this will show how the latest developments in literally astronomical studies can be of great benefit down here on Earth!
