Inclusive Approaches

Inclusion Hub

Inclusion within Stewarton Academy places the needs of the learner at the centre of all actions taken to support in their educational attainment. The Inclusion Hub offers a wide range of supports to develop our young learners and support them in their progression. These include but are not limited to, the 5 Minute Box, individual target setting and curricular support where appropriate. These supports are widely accessed by a number of pupils however, often are adapted to accommodate the needs of the individual learner.

Working collaboratively with staff across the school we look for opportunities to support all learners by collecting data. This can be gathered using a number of screeners to assess if there are any barriers to a young person’s learning. This evidence can then be used in conjunction with our Support for Learning department to look for opportunities to adapt the curriculum to support the young learner. The gathered evidence is then used to inform discussion with the young person and parent/career to decide on the most appropriate supports that can be offered.

The Inclusion Team are currently working collaboratively to support the school in our journey toward obtaining our Silver Rights Respecting School. This involves a number of methods to inform our young learners of their rights according to the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child. This is an ongoing project which we would love to work collaboratively with the school’s wider community to support this project.
