School Closure Update

Thank you to all pupils, staff and parents for your support with today’s early closure. All pupils are now home or on the way home.

The burst mains that cut off our water supply is expected to be fixed by this evening and school will be open as normal tomorrow. If, for any unexpected reason, this situation changes, we will communicate it across our SMS, school app, website and Twitter platforms.

URGENT: EARLY SCHOOL CLOSURE TODAY

Dear Parent/Carer

We have been forced into an early school closure today following the damaging of the water mains supplying the school by the contractor at the building site next door, which has left us without running water. Pupils will be provided with a school meal as planned and will be dismissed at approximately  2:00pm, when transport will be on hand for pupils that travel by school bus.

Should your child be unable to return home early for any reason, please contact the school office to inform us. Staff will remain with pupils in this position until the end of the school day at 3:35pm. Any pupils in this position will have to be picked up from school or make their own way home as school buses and transport will not be available.

I appreciate your support and patience with this matter.

Stewarton Academy Christmas Market 2019 – Request for Helpers

Please see the message below from David Mitchell, Chair of the Parent Council.

Hi there, the Christmas Market will be held on Thursday 28th November in the Academy. It takes an entire team of helpers to make these nights the success that they always are. If any parents, carers, grandparents, friends or family members are available to help with the set-up in the afternoon or for a couple of hours on the night then please let Elaine or me know. Reply to the PC email Stewarton.acad.pc@gmail.com or Elaine’s at elaine.smithy@googlemail.com or call/text me on 07910814975. Ideally the night time helpers would be available from 17:30 onwards.

Everything raised goes directly to benefit the young people of Stewarton Academy.

Many thanks,
David

Mr Hardie, Morgan Cumming and Miss Cooper receiving the Digital Schools Award plaque.

Representatives from Education Scotland, HP and Microsoft presented our delegates, Mr Hardie, Miss Cooper and S5 pupil Morgan Cumming, with the Digital Schools Award plaque to recognise the progress made and commitment to embedding digital learning across the curriculum in Stewarton Academy.

Mr Miller, the school’s new Head Teacher, was delighted to see the efforts of the staff, pupils and partners recognised. “The programme offers schools a real opportunity to build on their digital capabilities,” he said. “We are very proud of the work undertaken to achieve the Digital Schools Award. Developing the digital skills that will enable our pupils to compete and thrive in the modern economy is a vital part of the work we do and we look forward to building on this success and embedding digital technology and learning further across out curriculum.”
