Uniform Swap Shop – recycle and reuse your uniforms.
Does your child have a school uniform that they have outgrown? Then why not drop into our school swap shop and swap it for another!
Based at the school reception, our swap shop is a great way for parents to donate or swap any school uniforms, jackets, bags, etc.
If you have any school uniform items, jackets, bags or packed lunch boxes you wish to donate then please hand these into the school office.
There is a great selection of school jumpers, cardigans, polo shirts, etc. already on display so come in and take your pick!

Celebrating Eid
Amro and Mahmoud in P4F came to visit P3W to share a presentation about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The boys explained that they shared special family time and enjoyed celebrating.

P6/7 Ambassadors @ Celebrate Kilmarnock Events
Dear Families,
P6/7 Dance Fest Ambassadors have been invited by East Ayrshire Council in collaboration with Celebrate Kilmarnock to perform at two local events to represent our school community.
Event 1
Event: Community Celebration
Date: Friday 14th June (this Friday)
Time: 2pm
Venue: Celebrate Kilmarnock Shop (Kings Street, Kilmarnock)
Pupils will leave school after lunch at 1.15pm with Mr Swan and another member of staff and walk to Kings Street for their performance, after which they will return to school and continue with their weekly rehearsal until 4pm.
Pupils will be in their school uniform.
Event 2
Event: ‘Anthems from Broadway & Beyond’ K – Fest Cabaret
Date: Friday 26th July
Time: 7pm
Venue: New Laigh Kirk, Bank Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 1HA
Pupils have been invited to unite with Loudoun Musical Society for this annual K-Fest Cabaret which launches a weekend of events for the local community to celebrate our town and the people in it.
Pupils have been working on their repertoire with Mr Swan in their weekly Friday rehearsals and are very excited to perform for an audience of over 600 community members.
Pupils are required to attend the Dress Rehearsal. Please see details below:

Primary 1 staff are looking for a range items to help develop our outdoor area and loose parts play. Please contact the school on 01563 525477 or speak to a member of Primary 1 staff if you have any of the following items:
Old teapots, cups, containers, trays etc.
- Screws, bolts, nuts, nails etc. for fine motor and tinkering.
- Any old tools that the children can use e.g. hammers, spanners, screwdrivers etc.
- Wooden pegs, corks, pebbles, wood rounds and other natural resources.
- Old kitchen equipment such as sieves, bowls, spoons, forks, wooden spoons scales etc .
- Pipets, measuring jugs, measuring spoons, beakers etc.
- Any used electrical equipment e.g. hairdryers, blenders etc. or used furniture.
- Fabric, old clothes and accessories for role play.
- Picture frames.
- Bricks of assorted sizes.
- Wooden poles, wooden sleepers, pallets or crates.
- Old pipes or guttering.
- Latches, handles and gate hinges.
- Small logs.
- Storage boxes or baskets and trinket boxes.

Just reminding families that P2 are walking to and from the Dean tomorrow morning. It’s to be wet so make sure appropriate clothing is worn and send them with a change of shoes, trousers and socks just in case they get very wet.

Lucy’s Blue Day – Author Visit
More classes have become familiar with the book ‘Lucy’s Blue Day’ which explores emotions and explains that it is ‘Ok to be not ok’ and that there are people we can talk to when we are feeling a little blue.
Lucy’s hair changes colour depending on her emotions.
This delightful book has led to great class discussions, super stories and fab artwork in various classes.
Brooke Hannah in P3 shared a story with the author and he used it on a film reel at the ‘This Morning Live’ roadshow. Brooke was excited to hear that Dr Ranj, Rylan, Rochelle and Holly and Phil had seen her story!!?
Chris Duke, the author of the book is visiting Onthank on Tuesday 25th June and he will visit Galston Primary and Hillhead Primary too.
Chris has offered us a discount code to use online for buying a copy of the book shown. Our code is ONTHANK and the book can be bought at www.lucysblueday.com?.
The discount removes postage and packing. Chris will have the orders with him when he visits and he will sign books too if you wish.
The upper school version of the book can be pre ordered and will be released in August. A fab book with a powerful message.
Additional Homework Club
Mrs Irving has kindly offered to run a Homework Club for any children who would like some extra support completing their homework on a Thursday 3pm -4pm in Mrs Irving’s classroom. This is an additional Homework Club to the one that already runs for parents and carers. Mrs Irving’s homework club allows for children to attend on their own if parents are unable to make the Parental Homework Club.

P7 Sports’ Day

P7 Outing to Millport
P7 are going to Millport on Wednesday 19 June. The bus will leave school at 8.45 am prompt and will return around 3.15 pm. Your child will need a snack, a non fizzy drink and a packed lunch (if your child receives free school meals the school can provide a packed lunch).
The cost of this outing is £12 per pupil to be paid through ParentPay. If you wish to pay via Paypoint please call the school for a Barcode letter.

P5 Human Body topic – Community Involvement
P5’s current topic is the Human Body. We are hoping that some wonderful people in our community, whose work relates to biology or medicine, could join us to discuss their job and experience.
For example, in the past we have had a microbiologist educate us in their job and they brought in some fascinating, if a little disgusting, samples to help pupils learn more about their body’s defence system.
If you are able to spare your time please fill in the form attached and we will be in touch to find out more about your experience and how it could be incorporated into our topic.
Involving members of the community whose daily job is related to any of the STEM areas helps pupils understand the link between these subjects and the real world and may inspire future careers.

Onthank’s Fitness Friday
Fitness Friday was a huge success with our young children this afternoon, with over 400 children participating in lots of activities including dodgeball, tennis, rounders, playground games and relay races.
