Hi folks
Just to let you know that P2 gym days are probably going to be Thursday and Friday.
We had a lovely sunny day for our Beach Party. Everyone enjoyed eating their lunch and playing with the inflatables. ☀
Well done to Adam Thomson (P6K) for all his achievements in swimming. Adam brought a few of his medals and trophies in to school today to show his class!
This week we held a summer themed assembly for P1-5. We were told how to keep safe in the sun during the holidays. Our model is wearing suncream, sunglasses, a sunhat and a beach dress to stay protected from the sun’s powerful rays.

Well done to everyone who took part in cycling training and passed their test. They received certificates and badges and are now very able to go on the road. Thank you to Karen Paterson for the time and effort she put into training the boys and girls to reach their level .?
We had a lovely sunny day for our annual BBQ. We served over 400 hot dogs and burgers to many happy children. Andrew said,”I loved my lunch today.” Rebecca: “Best lunch ever.” Everyone enjoyed their ice cream cones too.???
Congratulations to our football team- they won the Dunlop Trophy at Rugby Park. All season the team have played with a great attitude and entertaining football. This is the second year in a row we have won the Ayrshire Cup and the Dunlop Trophy. Thank you everyone for your continued support.??

We have all been enjoying learning about ‘Our World of Work’.
We have shared ideas of careers which we think we might enjoy in the future and we have been considering what steps we would need to take to be able to do certain jobs.
Importantly, we have been discussing the strengths and talents we have already and how we can continue to develop these.
We have had lots of fun playing games, participating in roleplay and some of us have even tried to fill in application forms for our dream jobs.
P6K worked with Miss Smith to create a ‘World of Work’ Assembly. Through drama, music and dance they demonstrated that if you are determined and work hard you can achieve your dreams.
The whole school enjoyed the assembly on Monday and today we welcomed parents and relatives to watch.
Well done P6K!

P6 had a great turnout for Onthank’s first ever John Muir Award Celebration this afternoon. Our P6s have been learning that John Muir was a Scottish born conservationalist, who lived in the late 1800s and later moved to America to found of some of their National Parks.
The award encourages children to explore natural areas near the school and over time develop and conserve them. You may have noticed that trees have been planted at the front of the school and a wide selection of vegetables have been planted near the nursery.
Congratulations to our P6 pupils, you have worked extremely hard! Thanks to all who came along to help us celebrate. We hope you had a good time and learned something new!
Please contact the office if you would be able to help us water and care for the plants over the summer holidays.

Congratulations to Onthank Football Team: they won their final 4-1 and lifted the Ayrshire Schools’ Cup for the second year in a row?. Well done team and to all our supporters and also to our super coaches Mr Boyd and Mr Simpson⚽.
All pupils, staff and many parents took part in Onthank’s Race for Life. Well done to everyone and thank you for your donations. We have raised £470.31.?Everyone who ran the route received a medal and a certificate. Thank you to Ann Smith ,Tesco Community Champion from Tesco, Glasgow Road for donating the oranges for the event. ? A super event organised by Mrs Williams and Miss Smith.⭐

The P7 Football team competed in the South and West area finals today; winning 5 games and drawing 1. This meant they won the tournament and now progress to the National Finals where there are only 8 teams left from the whole of Scotland.
The P5/6 team were also competing in this tournament and were unlucky in the games that they played in not to get more from them.
Both teams were a massive credit to the school!
The P5/6 and P7 Football Teams have been busy recently. Firstly, the P7 team were successful in the East Ayrshire heat of the National tournament last Tuesday; winning all of their games and progressing to the South West Regional Finals in Dumfries on Thursday. The P5/6 team were also successful in the Ayrshire heats and will compete in the South West Regional Finals in Dumfries on Wednesday. Finally, the P7 team played their Ayrshire Cup Quarter Final match tonight against Heathfield Primary and won 4-2.
Well done to all boys and girls!
Primary 3 pupils invited parents and carers to come and dine with us.
We got the chance to talk to many of you during our ‘Come Dine with Us’. We were able to discuss a variety of topics and were delighted that many parents offered their time to work with us to improve our school. Please look out for the opportunity to volunteer with our 60 minute make-overs.
If you are a Primary 3 parent please give us feedback below –
Following our consultation we would like everyone to learn our shared values.

Well done to all the Onthank swimmers who took part in Swimathon on Friday . They all worked as a team and did us proud! They received the Head Teacher’s Award at assembly on Monday?
All pupils in Onthank Primary have now undergone Heartstart training. Mrs Williams and Miss Smith have been working with all classes during Health lessons and children now know how to respond in an emergency situation.
P6/7 Football training resumed last week and there was an excellent turnout as per usual. There are lots of fixtures coming up and there will also be an opportunity for P5 and P6 pupils to trial for the P5/6 Regional tournament on 10th May. The first trial will be held Thursday 3rd May at lunch time.
Check out the video of all our P4, 5, 6 and 7 performing Zumba led by our very own Steven Swan. More pics and videos will follow from our Sport Relief Day!

NSPCC visited Onthank and delivered assemblies to all pupils encouraging pupils to Stand Up and Speak Out.

Primary 6 and 7 pupils were lucky enough to meet some Team GB Paralympic Boccia players! Jamie and Scott McCowan (brothers) came in to Onthank to show us how to play Boccia. Some pupils got the chance to have a go and even the teachers got the opportunity to play against each other.
