We are keen to improve our service to ensure we are providing the best opportunities for our children. We value the opinion of our wider school community and believe that you should play a part in shaping how we do things in the future. We would really appreciate it if you could spend 5-10 minutes completing this short questionnaire below.
This is a brilliant website for neurodivergent children and their families. Lots of fantastic resources, workshops and details of support services available in our area. If you would like to speak to someone in school about any concerns you might have, feel free to make contact. https://www.nest.scot/

Our leadership group have been recapping the various signs that are useful to learn. We have created a short video to share these with you again and refresh your memory. We hope you can use them and support with communication with others.
We are delighted, at New Cumnock Primary School, to be officially presented with our Communication Friendly Schools status.
Hayley from the Speech and Language Team came to our school Get Together to present our plaque to members of our Communication Friendly Schools Pupil Leadership Team.
Jorja and Paige were delighted to accept it on behalf of the school. We have worked hard as a school over the past 2 years to achieve this status and we are so proud.
We are participating in ‘No Pens Day’ on Wednesday 29th November to raise awareness of the importance of communication skills in our school.
This national day is set to help improve children and young people’s communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Why is your child’s school taking part in No Pens Day 2023: Show and tell?
• Teachers estimate that, in the UK today, 1.9 million children struggle with talking and understanding words. Without the right support, they face huge hurdles in learning, making friends and staying in good mental health.
• It’s a chance for your child to improve their speech, language and communication skills through a day of talking and listening activities – starting with the biggest ever show and tell!
Show and tell focus – MY HOBBY – please encourage your child to bring an object to help them share about their hobby with the class. This could be – a pair of dancing shoes, a karate belt, a colouring book, a reading book…. please do not send anything of extreme value and no need for lots of items – only 1 item to help them share their hobby with their friends.
We will also be encouraging British Sign Language practise throughout the day too as a way of communicating.
We are not asking for money directly but if any parent would like to support this charity, all money raised will go to Speech and Language UK – a charity that supports children who struggle with talking and understanding words.
