New Cumnock Early Childhood Centre / New Cumnock Primary School
- FIRST DAY IN PRIMARY 1
Please bring your child to the school playground for 9:15 – no earlier than 9:05 please as we want to ensure the playground is clear for your children coming in on their first day. Please enter through the gate at the front of the school where the disabled parking spaces are – this will be the entry point for P1 -3 children.
The teachers will meet you in the playground and line the children up and you will be invited into the classroom to see them settled and then leave them to have the best 1st day of school with their teacher.
After the first morning, you will drop your child off at the gate to staff and their Buddies will be there to support and take them into the playground.
At home time, you will be invited into the playground to wait on your child and collect them from there – they will always wait with their teacher until an adult is there to collect them.
- Breakfast Club
- This was asked about at the meeting yesterday – please contact Mrs Bradford by email to request a place for your child to attend. Her email address is tracey.bradford@eastayrshire.org.uk

Parent/Carer Information Booklet
Click on the link below to access the parent/carer information booklet that will hopefully answer questions you may have regarding the transition process to Primary 1.
Pupil Information Booklet
This booklet has been developed to allow parents/carers to read with their child to help them learn about Primary School. It has been written in a story format. Please read over it and discuss it several times with your child leading up to the big day when they start Primary 1 in August.
Safer Schools Scotland App
Here at New Cumnock Primary School, we use the School App for a quick and effective way to contact and communicate our parents/carers. This is an App that can be downloaded and then we will provide you with a code to allow you to log into our section of the app.
Please also encourage anyone who may be dropping off or collecting your child from school (childminder/grandparents/family friends) do download the app as we may sometimes have to send information urgently before the start or end of the school day.
Learning Journals
What are Learning Journals?
The Learning Journals app allows staff to upload photos and videos of your child’s learning. The system is clear, simple and easy to use for parents, staff and children.
A huge benefit of Learning Journals is that it provides a lasting visual record of a child’s time at school. The profiles can be exported to a printable PDF to be kept forever, as well as having an electronic copy that can be viewed whenever you want.
Learning Journals is a web based service, therefore parents are now able to login and catch up with their child’s progress wherever they are be it home, work or even out and about, by using their smartphones.
Parents can instantly leave comments and feedback ensuring that the school have a strong link with the home.
Please see the image below to view the app you must download from your play/app store.
Getting started:
In order to be sent a username, password and pin allowing you to log in to view your child’s account, parents/carers must complete the contact form below.
Once added to the system, Learning Journals will then send you the link to get logged in.
For further information, please visit the Learning Journals website by clicking the link below.
