P5 attend RHET Festival of Farming

P5 had a fantastic day at Dumfries House to celebrate the RHET Festival of Farming. We were treated to a range of workshops from various local providers including Butchery, Beekeeping, Food Processing, Wool Weaving, Soil Analysis, Prevention of Rural Crime, Agricultural Machinery, Dairy Farming, Pig Farming, Looking after Horses, Lifecycles of chickens, Sheep Farming, Arable Farming and Auctioneering!

We loved meeting all the animals, especially the Clydesdale Horses and the mischievous piglets!

Thank you to Dumfries House and RHET for a wonderful day enjoyed by all the Primary 5s!  Have a look at our video to see some of what we got up to!

DIARY DATES SUMMER 2022

We are so excited to inform you all about our upcoming events!  Due to COVID mitigations recently being reduced we have been able to plan fun opportunities for our children, during this final stretch to the summer holidays 🙂

We are delighted that we can rebuild our partnership with Dumfries house who have kindly found space in their packed schedule for our P1-5 pupils for Farming themed workshops and play, despite having bookings from schools all over Central Scotland!  This matches perfectly with our WORLD OF WORK theme, which this year was all about local opportunities, which includes our farming community.

P1a P1b P2 and P2/3 will enjoy the Springwatch workshop at the farm, meeting a variety of animals, learning how to look after them and all about animal life cycles, as well as enjoying time in the STEM playground and new park!

P3 P4 and P5 will be visiting the RHET Festival of farming days at Dumfries House, taking part in workshops where they will be learning about the variety of careers available in agriculture and rural life, as well as enjoying and meeting a variety of animals including horses, pigs, chickens, bees, sheep and cows.

P7 TRANSITION INFORMATION EVENING

Dear parent / carer

I am pleased to share with you the link to our P7 Information Video. As we are currently unable to welcome large groups of parents to the school for a face-to-face information evening, we decided to record a video that you can view with your child instead. This video should answer many of the questions you may have about the final stages of our transition programme.

The video can be viewed by clicking the link below:

P4 Heritage Heroes

P4 have started their Heritage Heroes project. For this project we need to learn about the history of New Cumnock and share what we have learned. We have chosen to learn about the history of  the swimming pool.   We are learning about the old and new pool as both of the pools have history we would like to learn about. If you don’t mind could you share your experiences by answering the questions below.  Thank you from P4.

We would also be grateful if you could e-mail any photos you have of the pool or the way New Cumnock used to look when there was a library, tennis courts, games hall and community centre. Please e-mail any photos to – karen.petrie@eastayrshire.org.uk

Thank you from Primary 4.
