Now your child is in P7, the transition to S1 in Stewarton Academy moves ever closer. Within the Stewarton Education Group we have instituted a very we inclusive transition programme for all our P7 pupils.
Throughout the session we have a number of cross-sector meetings between staff at Stewarton Academy and associated primary schools. Important curricular and pastoral information is passed on to ensure a seamless transition for all our young people. This process will continue when Academy staff visit the primary schools throughout the upcoming months. Pupils who are joining us from other primary schools are included in transition events and contact made with their host school.
Mrs Kerr, PT math at Stewarton Academy has been delivering Math sessions to each P7 class in September for Maths Week. Pupils took part in maths challenges and groups tasks.
Stewarton Academy are hosting a Robotics transition event on Thursday 31st October. During this session pupils will come together to attend a presentation then get the opportunity to attend AI workshops. Further information will follow on this.
Our S6 transition team will be out to visit P7 classes and deliver Q&A sessions with interactive tasks throughout November. The team are looking forward to going back out to primaries in February to build on these sessions further.
Mrs Handvidge, PT Home Economics will be delivering practical sessions to each P7 class throughout December.
We are hosting a joint STEM and PE event in March. P7 pupils will come together to take part in PE sessions as well as STEM workshops. This is another excellent opportunity for pupils to familiarise themselves with the school as well as meeting some of their peers and teachers.
From January till June Ms B MacBain DHT (S1/S4) and Principal Teachers of Pupil Support and Principal Teachers of Support for Learning from Stewarton Academy will visit all P7 pupils in their primary school setting.
We are also hosting a P7 Parents’ Information Evening on Thursday 24th April 2025 to allow parents and carers the opportunity to visit the school and hear more about learning and teaching.
The P7 Induction Days take place on Wednesday 11st June and Thursday 12th June 2025.
Our P7 pupils follow an S1 timetable and get to know their future classmates. There will also be an opportunity for them to attend our P7 Fresher’s disco on the evening of Thursday 12nd June to socialise more informally with their future classmates.
I’m sure you will agree that this is a very comprehensive package of transition supports, many of which continue into S1 and which contribute greatly to the swift and successful way our pupils enter into the positive life of Stewarton Academy.
