Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th May- Daily Tasks

Good morning P4. Looking forward to another day of learning and seeing what you all are doing. Your assignments for today and tomorrow will go live at 10am and the hand-in time will be 4pm on Wednesday for all of them. I have put the closing date for them to be Friday 15th May at 4pm. I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat.

Yesterday I set Thomas the task of giving you a daily challenge and it was such a shame that nobody participated in this. Let’s try again today and see if you can look at his challenge on the Playground Channel. It will only take you a few minutes and is good fun. You can also go on YouTube and do Mr Colvn’s Daily Daft Challenge. Have a fun day.

*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*

Numeracy Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th May

Complete the number problem (257 – 124) or (68 – 37).  Remember to write the title of which strategy you are using in each box.  You can write directly on the Number Talks sheet below and upload or write on a piece of paper, take a photo and upload it to your assignments.  You can choose from:

*place value partitioning

*keep a constant difference

Use the link below to help remind you of the strategies.

Look at the worksheets from yesterday on subtraction with exchanging sums and complete some more of them.  If you have finished them all  then you can make up some of your own if you want- remember to try and challenge yourselves.

Again, don’t worry about doing on squared paper- plain paper will be fine. *Remember to show your workings, not just the answer.

Numeracy Day Wednesday 13th May

  1. Try to make up some of your own games for numeracy for you and your family.  I have included some pictures of games to give you some inspiration.
  2.  Have a look at the link below for some Lego Maths ideas.
  3. Complete the Numeracy Scavenger Hunt    *instead of a dime find a £1 coin*

This morning your assignments will go live at 10am and I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. They do not need to be completed until Wednesday giving you a few days to complete. Tuesday and Wednesday’s assignments will go live at 10am tomorrow, just as we did last week.

What I look forward to each day is to see how well you are getting on and for you to share your news and pictures about what you have been up to. I think it is really important for us all to stay in touch so please remember to say hi when you come online. I think it would be fun if we nominate someone to come up with a daily fun check-in challenge to complete each day so I would like to nominate Thomas this morning.  Post on the Playground Channel and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

*Feel free to complete the daily Joe Wick’s programme or the one Mr Smith put on the Blog.

Climate Explorers

What are the major climate zones of the world?

Look at the link below and watch the short video clip (04:48).  Give a brief summary on what ‘climate means’ and write how many different climate zones there are and how they differ.  You can record this information any way you like:

*paragraph

*fact file

*word processed

We will add to this over the coming weeks to make up a little topic folder on ‘Weather and Climate Zones’.

Marina Ventura’s Climate Explorers

Top tip- the first video you will see at the top of the link you have to press to watch, however the exact same clip a little further down starts playing straight away.  If you click the first video as soon as you go in they will both start playing together at different times.  Either watch the clip further down or pause it so you can watch the one that comes up first.  They are both the same so if doesn’t matter which one you watch.

*Only look at the first part this week.  Next week we’ll be finding out about how and why climates change.

Wednesday 6th May

Good morning P4. Looks set to be another day of sunshine. I hope you’re all enjoying the assignments set and are finding it all manageable. If you have finished most of your work then why don’t you think of some challenges that your classmates could do or make up some games for numeracy and literacy and share with us all. You could post these on the Playground Channel for everyone to see.

I will be on here between 11-12pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat.

Remember to try and upload all your work by 4pm today- if you don’t manage that don’t worry as you have until 4pm tomorrow to complete what you can. Remember Friday is a holiday so Mrs Green will only be posting work for tomorrow.

Your morning challenge is to try and collect items from around the house to make a rainbow as shown in the picture below. I look forward to seeing what you create.

Monday 27th April- Daily Tasks

Good morning P4. I hope you all had a super weekend in the sunshine and managed to do lots of fun things at home. This morning your assignments will go live at 10am and I will be on here between 11.30-12.30pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. They do not need to be completed until Wednesday giving you a few days to complete. Tuesday and Wednesday’s assignments will go live at 10am tomorrow, just as we did last week.

Last week we assigned your Easter news as a Super Star task and you were to present it in a way of your choosing.  What a fantastic amount of work was handed in, from power point presentations and newspaper articles to photographs, giant bunnies and written paragraphs.  We had a lovely time looking at what you had all been up to but it made mine and Mrs Green’s job of picking just one extremely tricky.  The fact that you all managed to hand in such wonderful work makes you all worthy super stars in our eyes so the decision was made that we would put all the names in a hat of the people that handed their work in and pick the winner that way.  Make sure you look at the school blog to find out who got their name pulled out the hat.

I would just like to remind you all that you are all doing a super job in what we can all say is an extremely difficult time. I know many of you will have parents out at work each day or working from home so completing school work, alongside siblings, can be very tricky. All I ask is that you do your best and manage what you can. If you can complete these then great- but if for some reason you are unable to do them all then please don’t worry about it or stress. I am here for you to talk to or if mum and dads need any help. My job is to make things as manageable for you as possible and for you to have fun in what you’re learning.

So to start our day I would like you to share any news you have from your weekend. It can be typed on the post or a photograph of what you did. We had a lovely time in our garden with Eva playing in her paddling pool and on Sunday she made burgers with her daddy for our BBQ. Have a great day and have fun!

*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*

Numeracy 27th April

I have also added a link for you to look at as a reminder on how to complete these sums.  They show you carrying the number and writing at the top but we have put it at the bottom when doing in class.

You can either write on the worksheet below or complete on paper and take a photograph and upload to your assignment.  Don’t worry about doing on squared paper- plain paper will be fine. *Remember to show your workings, not just the answer.
