Dyslexia Awareness Week
This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week.
During the course of the week, the children will be watching a powerpoint which highlights the challenges and strengths of dyslexic learners. They will also promote discussion around dyslexia using discussion cards .
Poppies
As it is approaching Rememberance Day on 11th November, we will again be visiting classes to offer pupils a poppy in return for a donation via our poppy collection tin.
Two of our P7 pupils will go round the classes at 2.30pm each day from tomorrow until 10th November.

Wednesday 30th November– Whole School Pantomime Outing (donations via Parentpay)
Snow White-Pantomime
On 30th November we are having a whole school outing to the Palace Theatre to see the pantomime- Snow White.
The total cost of the tickets for the school is £2090, which is £11 per child’s ticket. We will also have the cost of the buses on top of this. Due to this, we are kindly asking for a donation of between £11-£15 per child to help towards the cost of the trip.

We understand this can be a very expensive time of year and we very much appreciate your donations.

Halloween Costume Exchange
Free Fruit and Water for School Pupils

On Wednesday 12th October the Healthy Living Programme will be working with our local Spar in Meiklewood Road and will be giving out free fruit and water to school children on behalf of the store.
The Healthy Living Programme will be located outside the Spar for the children coming out of school in the afternoon.
Tempest Photographer

Reminder that the Tempest photographer will be in school tomorrow for individual pupil photographs, and also Primary 1 and Primary 7 class photographs.
Halloween Costume Exchange
Halloween Costume Exchange
On the run up to Halloween we will have a selection of Halloween costumes in our foyer. These will be available to anyone who is in need of a costume their child/children.
Similarly, If you have any costumes that your child/children have outgrown please hand them in to the school and we will add them to our exchange.

St. Bernadette’s Relics Visit
Today some of our P7 pupils visited St. Bernadette’s Relics at Carfin, along with Father Martin and Mrs Crawford.
Dress Down Day – Friday 14th October

On Friday 14th October, we will be holding a “Dress Down Day” in school. We are asking kindly for a £1 donation for this via Parentpay. As always, no football colours please.
Every pupil who donates £1 through Parentpay will be entered in a raffle draw to win a special prize organised by FOMC.
Confirmation and First Communion Enrolment
Enrolment Sunday
All children in P4 who are preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation in the coming year should come to the Enrolment Service during Sunday Mass on Sunday, 2nd October (9.30am in St. Matthew’s and 11am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel).
