World Book Day is back again! We are celebrating it in the ECC and the Primary, so head over to the school APP to get all of the details.

We would like to say a huge congratulations to all of the children who participated in the poetry recital competition on Thursday afternoon. We were delighted to welcome Mr Lyall and Mr Airbright, from Mauchline Burns Club once again to judge our overall winners. The P7 overall winner, and therefore awarded the Burns Quaich, was Harris. His recital of ‘To a Louse’ was absolutely outstanding! The P4-7 winners have been invited to recite their poems again at the local Burns event later this month at the Kilmarnock Supporters Club and then again at the Mauchline Holy Fair. Every class are looking at Scots words this term as Scots is our third language, after English and French.

The Inclusive Schools Committee would love you to complete this survey to find out your views about reading. We are trying to achieve our Reading Schools Award and need to find out how you feel about reading, both with your child and for you. Thank you!

Our Parent Council are currently planning the Christmas Fayre for Friday 29th of November and have asked very kindly for some donations for the Tombola and the Raffle.

Tombola (to be brought into school by the 20th of November please)

• bottles (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
• chocolate – advent calendars, bars of chocolate, chocolate Santas etc
• Sweets

• New items: candles, toys etc (no second-hand items please)

Mrs Cross and the Inclusive Schools Committee have signed up to the Book Trust’s Reading Schools award programme. We are hoping to continue our journey towards fostering a love of personal reading in all of our children and will be involving everyone in the programme – including our parents and carers!
