Parents’ Evening – Outside Agencies

Last week at Parents’ Evening, we were joined by representatives from the charity ‘Megan’s Space’ and East Ayrshire whole family wellbeing fund service, ‘Grow Together’.  We look forward to working with both services to support children and families.  Look out for Parent Information sessions in term four!

Megan’s Space

Megan’s Space provides essential support, advocacy and therapeutic services to young people who are unable to access the help they need through traditional routes whether due to cost, access or perceived taboo.

‘Grow Together’

Grow Together is a free, family focussed service in East Ayrshire, designed to support children, young people and families who may need extra help, even if they are not in crisis.  The service emphasises listening, understanding and providing practical support without judgement or pressure, helping families grow stronger together.

Services Offered:

  • Emotional Support: Providing a safe space for children and young people to talk about
  • challenges at home, school, or in general.
  • Practical Assistance: Helping with forms, appointments, referrals and connecting families to the right local services.
  • Skill Building and Activities: Supporting children and young people to develop new skills, try new activities, and engage in positive experiences.
  • Family Support: Guidance and assistance for the whole family, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and respected.
  • Participation is voluntary, and families can choose the level of  involvement that suits them.

Grow Together is not about blame or punishment; it focuses on empowering families to find solutions at their own pace.

Learn how to support your children to develop positive attitudes towards maths

National Numeracy Virtual Workshop

As you may be aware, the school is working with the charity National Numeracy to encourage families to do maths together.

We know that maths can sometimes seem daunting, but engaging positively with children’s learning can make a big difference to both children’s and parents’ confidence with numbers.

Therefore, we are inviting all parents to a unique workshop run by National Numeracy which will be held virtually on Monday 9th May, 1.30pm – 2.30pm.  Click the link below to access the meeting.

Meeting ID: 898 7750 4363

Passcode: 808848

You can access this meeting at home.  Alternatively, you can access the meeting in school, where we will set up the virtual meeting in the numeracy room. If attending at school, please email lynsey.cowie@eastayrshire.org.uk or contact the school office on (01292) 591291, to confirm attendance.  This will ensure adequate seating for this event.

The workshop is not a maths lesson, nor does it teach any maths, but is focused on fostering positive attitudes towards numeracy and tips for ensuring your children develop these too.

The session will cover the importance of maths in the real world, being positive about maths and how to boost your own number skills.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the session.

Thanks,

Mrs Cowie
