Lidl Health Bus

The Lidl Health bus paid a visit to Leswalt Primary and all the pupils got the chance to make a fruit smoothie and take part in some fun physical activity, to monitor their heart rate.

Hallowe’en Fun

On the afternoon of Friday 31st October everyone at Leswalt Primary had some Hallowe’en fun and games!

Harvest Festival

As part of the Harvest festival celebrations pupils traveled to Portpatrick to take part in a harvest service at church there.  The Rev Carolyn Baker led the service and pupils brought in an astonishing 59kg of food to donate to a local food bank. Pupils also learned more about the work of Guide dogs for the blind, and a collection of £85 was also generated for this cause.

Trip to Scottish Parliament

On Thursday 2nd October 2014, pupils from both Leswalt and Portpatrick Primary schools travelled to visit the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.  This excursion was to reinforce learning in the current project of “Local and National Government”.  While in Edinburgh pupils were given a tour by Alex Ferguson MSP and met the Deputy first minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

On Friday 26th September 2014 P5,6 and 7 and Mrs Bathgate organised a Coffee Morning to raise money for MacMillan Cancer support.There was a super b range of goodies on offer, and it raised the grand sum of £150 for the charity.

Outdoor maths

The boys and girls of Leswalt Primary have been taking their maths learning outside.  Have a look at the photographs to see how they were able to learn about time and right angles in the environment.

Zoolab in p5-7

The senior pupils also enjoyed a visit from Zoolab, where the focus was on Nocturnal animals and how animals have adapted to suit their environment.

Zoolab in P1-4

Today Primary 1-4 had visitors from Zoolab and they spoke to the younger pupils about how the animals had adapted their senses to the environment.  This linked in with the topic of “My Senses”.  The boys and girls enjoyed handling some of the animals in class.

Commonwealth Sports fun at Portpatrick

The pupils of Leswalt Primary travelled to Portpatrick Primary on Monday 30th June to have some “Commonwealth Sports” fun.  The pupils from both schools were split into 4 countries and had fun putting, playing tennis, bowling and building sandcastles.  It was a fun day for all in  glorious sunshine.
