P1 had fun today learning about how long things take. We counted in elephants (1 elephant, 2 elephants…) And timed how long it took to do different tasks like: write your first name 5 times, run to the other end of the playground and sing Happy Birthday. We had a great time!

P2/3/4 have been loving their new furniture donated from the nursery. They have been enjoying reading their Daily 5 books in comfy spots around the classroom!

On Tuesday, P2/3/4 went to Dumfries Academy to show off their dancing that they had been learning in school. There were over 200 children there from a number of different schools. It was very exciting as we were piped into the main hall and then performed our dances with the other schools. They even had a teacher dance too!

 Fun was had by all!

This week 9 families came along to learn more about STEM. Keith Walker from the RAISE team told them all about STEM. He explained about all the different job prospects in these STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). He also told them that the wages in these STEM professions are very good and unfortunately there are more men than women in these jobs. Afterwards each family took part in a challenge. They had to make a rocket out of a large water bottle. Using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda they had to launch the rocket into the sky. Everyone had such good fun. Some of the rockets went really high. If they didn’t work they had to use their problem solving skills. Thanks to everyone who came along. .    

P2/3/4 have been learning about the 1970s. So far we have learned about the fashion in the 1970s, listened to an old record player and have even been using our GT to build a 1970s shop area. We also sent interview questions home to find out what our family members knew.

P1/2 have been enjoying learning about the 1990s. So far we have learned about playground games, The Channel Tunnel, Princess Diana and technology. Have a look at some of our photos so far…

Well done P4/5, what a fantastic panto. Oh no it wasn’t oh yes it was!!! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Great singing from all the pupils in all of the classes, lots of laughs and lots of smiles. You should be very proud of all your hard work. A fab way to end the term. A special thanks to everyone who helped out and made it so good!! 

A huge well done to the 30 children who blinged their bike today!

The second attempt at the bike breakfast was a success.  Thank you to Tesco and Morrisons for donating fruit and a voucher.

Our recent World Quality Day was very successful and the pupils showed how good design engineers they are…. Here are some photographs showing their designs. Thanks to all the parents who were able to come along to see for themselves. Thank you to everyone from DTF for their support.

The science club have been busy making volcanoes out of salt dough and a bottle. They then made them erupt. They needed food colouring, washing up liquid, baking soda and vinegar. They loved seeing their volcano “blow their top”
