Country Dance festival – competitive

Last Saturday was Dumfries and District Music Festival; the country dancing section of the festival. The Country Dancers did extremely well, winning both the trophies for the small schools!
The dances were: A Reel for Jeannie and Hedwig’s Reel.
They shared the trophy with Wallacehall PS for Kitty Campbell’s Reel. They danced The Piper and the Penguin (a square set dance) really well.

They all looked very smart- well done all!!

Orienteering at Mabie

Today P4’s went to Mabie forest for orienteering. It was a cold but dry day. P4’s were not cold as they had to do so much running!

‘I liked the race at the end!’ Alexa

‘I really enjoyed all the races’ Eleanor

‘I enjoyed going round the forest and stamping or beeping the cards’ Islay

‘I enjoyed running and having fun in the forest.’

‘I enjoyed having fun and spending a day with all my friends!’

‘I learned to read maps!’ Lochlan

Day of Dance

On Tuesday, P2/3/4 went to Dumfries Academy to show off their dancing that they had been learning in school. There were over 200 children there from a number of different schools. It was very exciting as we were piped into the main hall and then performed our dances with the other schools. They even had a teacher dance too!

 Fun was had by all!

1970s…

P2/3/4 have been learning about the 1970s. So far we have learned about the fashion in the 1970s, listened to an old record player and have even been using our GT to build a 1970s shop area. We also sent interview questions home to find out what our family members knew.
