This week the children have enjoyed many fun activities in the lead up to the Christmas holidays.

On Thursday the children were surprised to find a reply from Santa after the children had posted their letters a week before.  He wrote them a lovely letter, left a Christmas story for us to enjoy and even a bag of candy canes! Wow!

On Thursday afternoon the children got dressed up in their party clothes and enjoyed the P1-3 Christmas party. The children played party games and took part in a few Ceilidh dances. Santa even took time out of his busy schedule to visit us and leave a present for each class. Our class received a guess who game and a hungry hippo game.

I would like to this this opportunity to say how incredibly proud I am of all of the children and the progress they have made in their first half of P1. I would also like to say thank you to all of the parents and carers who work so hard at home with the children and together we are really making a difference. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 6th January 2020. Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year to everyone.

We have been getting festive in P1M this week. The children have enjoyed taking part in Christmas themed purposeful play opportunities. Ranging from reinacting he Nativity story in our own stable to creating festive designs at the craft table.

Our class have also taken responsibility this week for the school’s Christmas Post. We developed our skills for the world of work by sorting the post and delivering cards to the correct classes on time. We had to work cooperatively, use our organisation skills and have good time management.

Literacy

In Literacy this week we have learned 3 new sounds. Ch, au and x. We also used our writing skills to write letters to Santa which we are going to post on the morning of Friday 13th December. Hopefully we will get a reply from the man himself before the Christmas holidays!

Numeracy

We have been consolidating our knowledge of numbers to 30 as we head towards the holidays. We have also learned about the seasons and the order of a school day.

Space

This week we enjoyed learning about what the solar system is and even learned the names of all 8 planets.
