P1M 2019-2020 30.8.2019

This week the children have enjoyed their first full week in P1!

In Literacy the children learned 3 new sounds, ‘s’, ‘d’, and ‘t’. Practising these sounds at home through games and discussions will really help your child to consolidate their learning. You could hunt for things round the house that have one of these sounds for example.

In Numeracy the children have been introduced to the numbers 3 and 4. We have been learning how to form the number correctly as well as counting and looking at quantities through games and play. Counting out loud together at home is a greasy idea to consolidate learning.

In Health and Wellbeing we have been looking at differences and what makes each of us special and unique. The children have enjoyed sharing things that they think makes them special as well as listening to others.

Lastly, I would like to add a polite reminder that only water is allowed in the classroom. Please only fill your child’s water bottle with water as opposed to juice. Thank you in advance for your support.

Welcome to P1M!

My name is Mrs McCole and I’ll be your child’s teacher for P1. I have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming all the children into Redwell this week and looking so smart in their school uniforms.

This week has been full of new learning experiences for all of the children, learning new routines as well as their first 2 sounds and exploring the number 1.

Our P.E. days will be a Tuesday and a Wednesday each week. Children should have a full P.E. kit for these days. I would ask that children come to school on these days wearing polo shirts instead of shirt and tie. This makes changing much easier for the children. Thank you.

I would also like to ask that if there are any questions etc for me, could these please wait until the end of the day, after I have dismissed all children. This ensures that all children are away safely and I can then give you my full attention. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.

The children have really enjoyed their first week of school and I look forward to seeing them again on Monday morning.
