Here is a summary of what we have been doing this week in P6R:

In our writing, we planned and wrote instructions about how to do something which we are familiar with. Pupils were able to share their knowledge of lots of things, including baking, origami, looking after pets, and how to do stunts on their bikes.

Next week, we will continue to develop our skills for functional writing.

In maths, we will develop our understanding of time further by looking at duration and timetables.

This week, we will be continuing our health topic.

In maths, we are beginning to learn about time, looking at the 12hr and 24hr clock.

We are also continuing to develop our understanding of instructional writing for different purposes.

We’ve had a busy week in P6R! Here is a mind map of some of the things which we have been doing in school this week:

In maths next week, we will begin to apply our knowledge of decimals as we work to solve problems involving money.

We will continue our topic work by looking further into historical events and people who have influenced society in Scotland.

Next week, in maths we will be beginning to look at decimals and the place value within them.

Our writing will link to our topic, as we learn about how to present information as a leaflet/brochure.

We will also be hearing each others’ personal project presentations on significant Scottish figures, linking this into our learning about Scotland.

In maths this week, we will continue to use out understanding of multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000, as we look further at converting between units of measurement.

We will also begin to look at some of the key battles in Scotland’s history as part of our topic work, with our writing linking into this.
