19.11.18 – 23.11.18

Here is our class blog for this week:

We will continue to look at poetry in writing next week.

In maths, we will develop our confidence in using the written method for multiplication.

Remember that there are in-service days at the end of next week, so pupils are only in school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

12.11.18 – 16.11.18

We have had an extremely busy week in P6R this week, as we concluded our Mock Court Project with a visit to Falkirk Sheriff Court to participate in a mock trial.

Here is a summary of what we have been up to in school this week:

Next week, we will be continuing to reinforce our work on multiplication and division in maths.

We will also be preparing for our Sharing of Learning event, considering the school values and building upon some of our work done during anti-bullying week.

Hope you all have a restful weekend!

05.11.18 – 09.11.18

Here is our class blog for this week:

Next week, our Mock Court work will be culminating in our visit to the Sheriff Court to have our mock trial.

In maths, we will look at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.

Our writing will have a WW1 focus as we write diary entries from the point of view of a WW1 soldier.

Outdoor Learning Day! (and 29.10.18 – 02.11.18)

Today was Outdoor Learning Day. As we have been thinking about descriptive language in our different types of writing, we used this as an opportunity to investigate onomatopoeia.

After reading some examples on onomatopoeia, and coming with some of out own, we headed outside!

We had to write down some of the things which we saw, and think of onomatopoeic words to describe them, specifically thinking about things which make us think of autumn. We enjoyed crunching in the frost and the leaves to hear the different sounds which they made:

Back in class, we put out words into sentences, then each pair chose their favourite sentence and we made them into a class poem about autumn:

We also had the fantastic opportunity to go into our school herb garden with Mrs Johnstone today, to feel, smell and taste some of the herbs which our nature group have been helping to grow. Mint was a particular favourite!

We also had our PE lesson outside, practising our cross country running:

We have spent much of the rest of our week learning about health and wellbeing through participating in Rookie Rockstars, as we also practised our expressive arts.

Next week, as with this week, we will continue to develop our division knowledge, whilst practising our quick recall of times tables facts. We will also continue to prepare for our Mock Court case.
