3.5.19 P6H have been learning…

This week we have been very busy…

The highlight of our week for most of us was our visits to Nursery to meet the future P1s.  We had a great time playing and helping them learn.  Next week we will help our buddies explore the playground.

In our IDL we have also been doing a lot of learning related to our new class novel ‘Pyrate’s Boy’ boy.  We learned about the British Empire and also the slave trade.

We also created letters, first handwriting them then using Word to make them look as if they were handwritten in the 18th Century.  After we printed them off we crumpled them up and covered them with cold, strong tea to make them look ancient.

In Numeracy and Maths we have been developing our knowledge of fractions. Some of us have been calculating equivalents and simplifying and others have been working with decimals and percentages.

In Health and Wellbeing we have been learning about Internet Safety and Readiness for Learning.

In internet safety we thought about how we use the internet.  This made us aware of the risks involved. Afterward our lesson,  activity and discussion, we  completed a quiz.  We showed that we understand the risks and know what to do if we are worried when using the internet.

In ‘Readiness for Learning’ we learned about the things that prevent us from being alert and able to learn and the things that will help us. There are some things that everyone needs such as sleep, food and water.   Different emotions can be barriers to learning too.

Some of us have also started training for the P6 and P7 Redwell Team for the County Sports on 22nd May!

Thank you for reading ou class blog!
