Long vowel ee sound at the end y or ey
We have been learning about the parts of the bee by listening to the Campbell Family, reading for information about bees and to label diagrams with Mr Mutch. By doing this you have been learning to sound out and read and write these words. This level will ask you to spell some of the bee’s body parts.
The parts of any living thing can be called it’s anatomy. Find out more information about the anatomy of a bee on this site. This level will ask you to spell some of these specialist words. Remember your spelling strategies.
As our Eco-fortnight draws to a close, here is one last post on the subject of bumblebees.
The Bumblebee Conservation trust has a collection of activities and fact files for all ages. Click on the link below to find out more:
Read the article in the following link. If you can, print off the worksheet, complete the crossword and label the different parts of a bee.
Finally, click on the Sway to find a series of questions to test your knowledge of bees! Remember to answer in complete sentences.
Following on from Mrs Taylor’s lovely recipe I hope some of you have managed to think about the idea of a meat free meal.
I’m sure many families have meat free meals at various points without realising it – for example Macaroni Cheese or even a salad. Those of you that are vegetarian or vegan will be doing this daily.
The idea of ‘Meat free Monday’ is a interesting debate as it opens up some good questions about whether or not it is good for the environment. (It doesn’t have to be on a Monday you do this)
Have a look at the website and read some of the ideas, some of you might need some adult support –
http://ypte.org.uk/factsheets/meat-free-mondays/introduction#section
Task 1 – Write a short report sharing your view on Meat Free Monday. You may have to research the website and note down some ideas before you start a report.
Remember to include your feelings and thoughts. Is your report for or against Meat Free Monday?
These questions may help –
Task 2 – Design a menu or recipe sharing your Meat Free meal. Did you make it?
Feel free to try one task or maybe some of you will manage both.
Remember to comment on here or share with your teacher we would love to see your ideas.
This is when a group of people get together to sew and make. They share ideas, help , encourage and have a laugh!

On BBC 1 there is a programme called ‘The Sewing Bee’ – there are 3 parts
The Pattern Challenge
The Makeover Challenge
The Made to Measure Challenge – let’s rethink this challenge!
To follow the pattern to succeed
Each week on the television programme contestants are given an everyday item to makeover into a new item in a very short amount of time. Last week each contestant had a sleeping bag and they had to make a children’s costume. The results were amazing!
No fabric then why not try this cardboard sewing challenge instead!
I hope you enjoy taking part in one of these challenges or inventing your own!

My daughter was bored on Saturday. It was snowing! She was grumbling! Eventually she agreed to have a go at making a bee and she surprised herself! She made her own pattern and sewed from lunchtime until late evening until she finished! Sewing is a very important skill for her future career as she is studying to become a vet so this was good practise as well.
Making, sewing, building, tinkering away at a project in your imagination can be very absorbing. You can forget about everything around you for a while!
They spoke about the different types and variety of bees.
The Friends of the Earth website has a useful bee identification guide.
To find out more about pollination visit The Eden Project website.
Good morning Everyone!

Just wanted to say a BIG Thank You to all those that have tried out our Health and Wellbeing task. They are looking FAB!
Don’t worry if you haven’t had a chance to do one yet you still have another week to go.
Please send on your creative pieces of your work to your teacher so we can collect them all to create a Sway for you all to see .
Thanks
Miss Deans
Today marks Earth Day 2020.
This is the 50th Earth Day and this year the focus is on Climate Action. This also connects to The World’s Largest Lesson which is part of Eco Schools work. (Links to both websites below)
Lots of activities and events were planned but this year the theme will be digital based or an activity from home so the Eco Group have set some challenges for you to try.
Can you do any of the challenges?
It doesn’t have to be today but please comment and let us know if you have done anything so we can keep a record for the Eco Group and our Green Flag application.
I have included a list of questions you could ask and a recording sheet if needed – Appendix Sheet 1/2.

Earth Day Spot clean –
On our family walks we have noticed the litter around us more than previously as we have had more time and walked paths that we rarely go on, so can you help tidy the place around you?
Please use gloves and consider what you pick up at this time. Send a picture to your teacher of your rubbish if possible. We can keep this for evidence for Keep Scotland Beautiful but please do not have people in the picture if possible.
Here is our rubbish collected on one walk.
P1/2 – (and anyone else who would like to join in)
You have been set a fun task below based around the book you are reading. Have a look at the Sway to see what your task is. This is a fun activity but remember to work with an adult.
