Bringing History to Life

Today the Primary Seven class went on a trip to Ellon Library where they carried out tasks related to World War 1. This included looking at what the soldiers wore, looking up soldeirs who died during the war and finding out information by using the iPads.

The feedback from the P7s was all very positive:

Sally –  I liked using the iPads because it was something I had never done before. I also likes seeing the uniform that the soldier wore.

Sam – The iPads were weird but I liked it because it talked and you could move the aeroplane.

Logan – The iPads were really interesting. I have never done something like that before. It was good that it all comes out of the paper.

Romi – I quite liked the computers and how it could search those who died by using the British War Graves Commission website. It’s really good technology.

Maja – The 3D iPads were awesome! It’s amazing what you can do with a printed sheet and an iPad.

Eleanor – I found the soldiers clothes interesting and the helmets must have been very uncomfortable because it looked like a deep frying pan. The iPads were awesome too.

Robbie – I enjoyed all of the facts. I though it was interesting.

Fraser – It was cool.

Cinderella and Rockerfella

Everyone is really enjoying the rehearsals for the Cinderella  Rockerfella Pantomime and we can’t wait to perform infront of an audience. All we need to do is practice a little more to ensure we all know our lines and come in at the right time. The scenery crew are working hard on the backdrop and the props. We are all very excited about performing on the 19th of December to family and friends.

Here is a sneek preview of the ugly sisters practicing their routine.

The ugly sisters are having a great time!

Modo Madness

Primary 7 pupils have started to create life-sized puppets with the help of Theatre Modo. We have been making the puppets out of withies (sticks of willow) and cardboard for the school Golden Jubilee. We are nearly ready for the big celebration on Friday at Gordon Park and we are learning a routine to go with it.

When we started learning about the 60s we realised how weird and strange a lot things were in those days, so that is the theme of our performance – STRANGE. On Friday you’ll see some strange things like; flying cars, toppling towers and strange animals. Watch this space for photos.

Lendrick Muir 2012 :D

On Monday the 16th of April 2012, P7 left for their residential school trip to Lendrick Muir which is situated in Kinross which is a little bit further north. It was a great trip, they had an amazing time. There were all sorts of activities to take part in. Primary 7 were put into different groups which they did activities in. The groups were yellow, green, purple, red and blue. The activiteswere trail biking, high ropes (leap of faith, pizza box), inflatables, search and rescue, land grab, bungee trampoline/crazy golf, rocket launch, canoeing, mini survival and cheeseydisco. The leap of faith was found scary by many pupils but most managed to face their fears and jump! On the last night they had a cheesey disco it was great fun and they learned a dance to Cotton Eyed Joe which was taught to them by Adrian (a staff member) :D. There aren’t enough words to describe just how good it was!

Lendrick Muir P7 Trip

Most P7s will be going to Lendrick Muir, which is a residential trip to central Scotland (Kinross area, then to Edinburgh on the last day.)

There was a meeting for the Mums and/or Dads to attend, the children could also attend if they liked. We received a kit list, planner for the days we are there, pictures of the activities and a plan of the building.

Lendrick Muir has many activites, such as inflateables, bungee fun, rocket launch and even watersports. We are also having a cheesy disco!

All the P7s that are going are looking forward to the trip. It is a little bit like the P6s’ trip to Alltnachrice which most of the children attended last year.
