Lilian Ross Scots poetry

Recently P6/7  have been learning about Scots poetry.  We had a visit from Lilian Ross.  We had  to learn poems off by heart. The names of the poems were Tae a Spider and Doctor Fa. We  had to speak Doric while speaking  it by heart. We also had to write a short poem about a different animal such as tae a parrot , dog , cat etc.

P1T and P1R Class Work

This term Primary1T have been learning about Scotland and it’s weather. They have drawn and painted “Wee reed motors” which was the poem they received home to recite. The P1s  have drawn pictures of Robert Burns and made kilts out of paper. They have also made little Scottish flags. One of the pupils told us, “We have been learning about the weather in Scotland”.

Wallace’s Defeat

Primary 4/5 have been learning about the battle of Falkirk. We did computer research, writing and listening. At the Battle of Falkirk the English fought the Scots with William Wallace as their leader. English archers poured arrows down on the Scots schiltrons and William Wallace fled. English soldiers caught William and he was hung, drawn and quartered. His body parts were sent back to Scotland as a warning…
