In Granger’s Gang (a.k.a. nursery), we plan around the children’s interests making learning relevant. We also use our observation records and notes to assess where each child is in their learning and identify the next steps to be taken. These observations can be seen in their personal folios, located in the nursery, that can be looked at at any time to keep you informed of your child’s progress. Curriculum guidance along with other documentation is used to assist with the planning process.
To assist in planning we have developed learning ladders to focus our planning in the key curricular areas of literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy. These show what a years progress should look like and what we aim for each child to achieve however every child is unique and learns at their own pace. It is not a race.
