From this week’s SLT

posted by Les Hutchinson, Head of Quality and Performance

Lots of successes to report – see our Twitter feed for snippets.

A busy agenda:

  • planning to update our complaints processes;
  • looking at how we prepare our annual evaluation report for 2015-16 (due to be published in August);
  • discussing how to manage sickness absence;
  • looking at the connections between the Early Years Collaborative and Raising Attainment for All;
  • considering some systems in schools to improve.

Maybe it doesn’t sound earth shattering, but these are all important aspects of managing a complex organisation.

Executive Showcase – Inverkeilor Primary School

posted by Elaine Hughes, Service Manager, Performance, Children and Young People

At the end of March 2016, the Senior Leadership Team were invited to Inverkeilor Primary School for their science festival. The whole school was involved with children from nursery to P7 involved.

InverkeilorPSMy first impression was of the great support from families and friends as we waited for the doors to open with great anticipation.

The theme for the festival was transport with everything from cars pulled by magnets to seeds that had been to space and back.

The children made great presenters explaining their work very clearly and with enthusiasm to all of the visitors. They had also created displays and news articles about their projects. I was very impressed with how they used various skills and experiences to produce a very interesting festival.

As well as the experiments on display, the children had written proposals for innovations for primary engineering leaders’ awards. The variety of ideas the children came up with and the quality of their submissions were excellent.InverkeilorPS1

I think the children and visitors really enjoyed the festival, I certainly did. It was a great way to round off the Easter term.

PS: Since then, four pupils were short-listed for national trophies, with one, Archie from P6 winning the national trophy.

Well done everyone.
