Strone Primary School pupils entertained the local community as part of the Blairmore Christmas Lights Switch On last week. During the day members of the Blairmore Village Trust came into school to decorate cupcakes with the children which were then judged at the event, and the children got everyone, including Santa, in the festive spirit by singing a selection of carols and playing Christmas tunes on their clarinets and fiddles.

Strone Primary School go back to 1939!
The first part of our end of term school trip was a visit to the Scotland Street Museum, where the pupils were taken back in time to experience what life was like for children in 1939.The P1-4 class got ‘Spick, Span and Sporty’ having a taste of the chores children used to do in the home and trying out an old fashioned PE lesson! The P5-7 class took part in an authentic World War ll classroom lesson, and were terrified by the wonderfully acted ‘Miss James’ who had everyone reciting their times tables and writing with ink pens. No-one dared misbehave and risk receiving the belt! Continue reading Strone Primary School go back to 1939!

Strone Primary School Breakfast Week
At the end of January, Strone Primary School took part in National Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which raises awareness about the importance of making a healthy start to the day. With donations of vouchers from our local Dunoon CO-OP and eggs from Marshall’s Farm, the pupils were able to tuck into delicious breakfasts with omelettes, cereals, toast, croissants and pancakes. We raised a magnificent £100.00 which the pupils chose to donate to Mary’s Meals, a global project that sets up school feeding projects. Our children wanted to give something back to support children in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty can prevent children from gaining an education.
