Christian Aid Success for Cardross
Scottish Kodu Kup Final
Pupils at Cardross Primary School were delighted to learn that 2 groups of budding computer programmers have been selected to attend the Scottish Kodu Kup final next week. The final 10 teams will meet at West College Scotland, Paisley Campus on Monday 16th July. The finalists will have the opportunity to work on their games before presenting their game and concept to the panel of judges.

Christian Aid Netball/Football
Cardross Primary were the winners at the recent Christian Aid Netball Tournament organised by Mrs Clark from Garelochhead Primary. The standard of play was amazing with St Joseph’s, Rhu, Colgrain and Cardross in the semi-final stages. Cardross were given a tough match against Colgrain Primary in the final. It was a great event and many thanks to all of the players, coaches and volunteers at the event.
Cardross haven’t lifted the trophy since 2001 and we were delighted!

Cardross Primary Mugdock Park Cross Country Success
Cardross Primary recently competed in the Mugdock Park Cross Country Championships. The pupils from P6 and P7 were accompanied and trained by Mrs Girling. All of the runners were impressive on the day but a notable mention must be given to the P7 boys team who came in first place with some excellent individual performances. This was a fantastic achievement for the boys who were up against some stiff competition from some very large Glasgow schools.

Technology Exhibition at Cardross
Last week Cardross Primary hosted a ‘Technology Through The Ages’ Exhibition in association with Glasgow Museums. The exhibition was part of a launch day of our very own Space Adventure 2 game. The game was designed and created by the pupils themselves on the school ipads! Many of the pupils acted as Apple expert, in the evening, presenting and showcasing their work to parents and the local community.

Cardross Primary Football Winners
Cardross Primary came out on top at the recent HALCO schools Ardencaple Cup Football Tournament. The Tournament was played over two consecutive Friday nights with boys and girls from all of the HALCO school able to participate. It was a great event run by Ardencaple in association with Active Schools.
Cardross Primary National Sumdog Champions
P7 pupils at Cardross finished on top at the Sumdog UK National Maths Contest. The were 172 schools battling it out with over 8,325 students involved. The school scores were based on an average number of correct answers of all of the pupils in the class. Cardross came top of the leader board with a score of 736 points. The school has won a class subscription to Sumdog which is a fun way to reinforce maths skills.
Cardross Primary Library Challenge Winners
It was a celebration of achievement this morning at Cardross Primary School with a staggering number of pupils completing the Library Summer Reading Challenge. Lesley from Cardross Library came up to present the pupils with their summer reading medals which they earned by reading six books in the holidays.
Cardross Primary Green Day
The Cardross Primary Green Day took place last week. The event was planned by our Eco teacher Mrs Girling to incorporate the whole school focus this term on the Rainforest. The pupils were taking part in rainforest and eco themed activities all day. Some of the highlights were; Amazon Micro-Parks, Rainforest Story Sticks and Smelly Cocktails.

Edmodo Joint Project with Cardross and Rosneath
Cardross and Rosneath Primary have formed a joint Edmodo group this term. The pupils in P5 & P6 and their teachers, Miss Boyd and Miss Travers, have been moderating writing, setting each other photo challenges and completing various eco and work projects. We have had great fun and look forward to inviting other schools onboard in the future.

Challenge Cup Football
Well done to the football teams from St. Joseph’s, Hermitage, Cardross and Rhu for their efforts in the Challenge Cup competition. St. Joseph’s ran out worthy winners in the end and a great day was enjoyed by everyone involved. Thanks to the teachers and helpers for organising the teams and thanks to all the parents who turned up to cheer on the children. We are hoping to run the competition again next year and welcome any more schools from the area who wish to enter.
