There was dancing in the streets of Bonawe on Monday when Argyll’s newest Samba Band made their debut public performance!
After six weeks of hard work and fun with Samba instructor Stephen MacNally, the twelve Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils of Ardchattan and Barcaldine Primary Schools had become adept players of the suerdo drum, tambourim, agogo bells and shaker.
P1-4 pupils from Barcaldine with parents, teachers and friends came over to Ardchattan to hear them play. and the sun came out as the whole group walked down to Kenmore Cottages. The sound of the drums soon had residents coming out of their houses to join in the fun and watch as the children performed a vivid, colourful and rhythmic routine with all the players taking turns for solo moments. They played so well, the crowd called for an encore and danced around the band.
Well done to all the players, thank you to Stephen for his great instruction and thank you to CAST for funding this fantastic opportunity!
