Following a competitive selection process, S6 Rothesay Academy School Captain, Marjorie Hogarth has gained a place on the prestigious Euroscola visit to Strasbourg and the European Parliament in March 2015. Marjorie will spend a week in Strasbourg and will have the opportunity to attend multilingual presentations in the parliament building alongside students from other European countries. In addition to attending debates, the students will have the opportunity to vote on European issues and gain a deeper insight into topical issues. For Marjorie who has been offered a place at university to study French this is a wonderful opportunity to develop her language skills and prepare for her future studies.

USA Week report
At the end of November, Lismore Primary School held a USA themed week. The children had suggested this following the success of China Week at the end of January. The week was chosen so that the children could celebrate Thanksgiving in true style on Thursday 27th November. The children were challenged to make another film about their week and discussed ways to improve their camera and presentation skills before beginning to present their findings.

Scottish Parliament Visit
The Primary 6’s and 7’s from Dunoon Primary School along with the Primary 7’s from St Mun’s Primary School recently visited the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. This followed visits to our school from the Outreach Workers from the Scottish Parliament. The children have been learning about Democracy in Scotland through their Interdisciplinary Study. They are learning about the benefits of living in a democratic society and how we should value and respect the views of others who may differ from our own.
Garelochhead Primary, IMAGINARY CITY – MR M ANGUS
An inspired parent, Mr Michael Angus, offered his expertise and came to Garelochhead Primary to teach us about Architecture. We created imaginary cities based on our visions for the future. We had to describe our vision to others and they had to put our ideas onto a visual drawing.

Hermitage Primary Euro Winners!
Dunoon Grammar School – Modern Studies Trip to Westminster
At 11.45pm on the 16th of December, Dunoon Grammar School’s Modern Studies Trip commenced. Those involved (Mrs Hunter, Mr Clark, Mr McNeilage, and 26 pupils from DGS) embarked that evening upon an exciting adventure. During the trip the group would get to visit the Houses of Parliament and experience London during Christmas time, but first they had to endure on an 8 hour bus ride to get there.
