Just to let you know that on Monday 27th April, our friends from our partner school, The Universal School in Mumbai, India, are coming to visit us. The teachers’ names are Kirtida and Suprabha. We will be having a Welcome assembly on Monday and they will be visiting all our classes during the week. Hopefully they will have a good time at our school and in Scotland!

Mini Beasts

The children in the nursery have just started to investigate the world of Mini Beasts. We have been looking closely at how each beast moves: do they have wings to fly? do they jump? do they wriggle on their tummy or do they have legs?

We have also renovated our bug hotel and have taken advantage of the amazing weather by getting outside with a magnifying glass to go on a bug hunt.

We have also looked at lots of non-fiction books on mini beasts and discussed how they are differnet from our story books.

Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch

IMG_0387In primary 2 and primary 2/1 there has been a buzz of excitement this week for the beginning of a brand new topic!  We were all so excited and happy to discover our new topic is The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.  So far, this week we have spent time discussing what we know already and what we would like to find out and which activities would make this topic super interesting.  Primary 2b investigated the use of pulleys, primary 2/1 created lighthouses using technology and primary 2a  spent some time outside using chalk to create a lighthouse picture.IMG_0385IMG_0377

P7 are back and ready to learn!

P7 had a wonderful holiday and have had a busy first week back! We have not stopped talking about all of the wonderful adventures we have been on and have a fresh mind for our last term at Williamston Primary School!
This can be a sad term for the pupils in P7 as they look back at all of the exciting years they have had here, and look to the future and the exciting times that lie ahead.

We have been working very hard on our Young Writer entries this week, we are making sure we add lots of description and detail. We have also had Miss Hao back with us and we have been reading, writing and pronouncing Chinese numbers. Also we have started our yearbook entries which is a bit nerve racking and exciting to realise that high school is upon us! Primary 7 are really looking forward to the term ahead!

P2a fun in the sun!

Finally, Spring has sprung!  To celebrate the sunny weather P2a went outside for PE.  We had so much fun and used a lot of energy playing Hot Potato.  Being outside gave us more space to practise our throwing and catching skills.  We even managed to play it with 3 potatoes (balls) we tried to keep our eye on the ball and call the person’s name before throwing

Primary 3a Outdoor Active spelling

We chose to make the most of the lovely weather in P3a this afternoon and took our learning outdoors!

We worked with a partner and searched the playground for a variety of items such as sticks, stones and flowers to spell out our new spelling words for this week.  It was a great way to help us remember our new spelling patterns and we had so much fun outdoors.  We also used chalk to write our words and draw pictures to represent them.
