Lomond Class

Another quick week! We’re continuing our all about me topic. We’ve enjoyed outdoor learning, PE and visits to the outdoor class and the Trim trail. In class, we’ve especially enjoyed building with the giant Lego, playing in a ‘den’ made from blankets and spinning on the spin seat.

We’ve had fun whilst developing so many skills!

Please have a look at some photos of Lomond Class from this week…

Rannoch Class Explore, Build and Create

This week in Rannoch Class we have been busy developing our skills through lots of fun activities. Outdoors, we explored our environment and worked together in construction play, building with big blocks. We enjoyed making music through body percussion, learning to listen and copy sounds. With Play-Doh, we had a great time creating, moving, and working on our fine motor skills through play. The children have been engaged, active and building confidence while learning in different ways.

Primary 5 Round Up

This week in P5 we’ve been busy learning and building on our skills. In Literacy, we continued developing our reciprocal reading strategies, with a focus on predicting what might happen next in our stories. In Numeracy, we explored place value and patterns to strengthen our number knowledge. In Science, we linked the water cycle to real-life situations, thinking about how it affects our homes, crops, and the world around us. We also continued learning Spanish, building on greetings and classroom language. It’s been a great week of teamwork, learning, and fun!

A Fabulous Week in Ness

The new term is going very well in Ness Class. Everyone has settled in and the learning is progressing well.

This week, we have been reading together every day to improve our reading fluency.

Our number learning has been Place Value and some of us are very good at identifying number up to 1 million!

Science has been the highlight of our week, where we have explored Static Electricity- a hair raising experiment for most!

Some of our highlights are in the pictures below!

P5 Weekly Round Up

This week in P5 we were introduced to our new reading groups and began exploring the reciprocal reading skills that will help us become more confident readers.

In numeracy, we worked on place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and creating number patterns.

In science, we linked the water cycle to real life, thinking about how it impacts our homes, crops growing and the wider world.

In Spanish, we learned how to respond to ¿Cómo estás? with phrases like Estoy bien.

We revised our H&WB indicators this week and completed some group work on how we see the indicators in school.

We also enjoyed going outdoors with Ms. Nelson to take part in some fun challenges and work on our charter.

In art, we explored how to describe ourselves using pictures rather than words – a very creative task!

We finished off our door display and class charter that we worked on together

Stay tuned to see what we get up to next week.

Week Three in Primary 1

Another amazing week completed in Primary 1😊 Miss Stenhouse is very proud of all the children and their amazing work!

Primary 1 have been learning about how to be a good leader through Leader in Me. This week we discussed how to be proactive and how this connects to our school values. We will be learning all 7 habits of happy kids through Leader in Me and each week someone will be selected for a class certificate.

To start with we created our own Leader in Me tree for our classroom to remind us that we can all be leaders. We will be working on Stop ✋ Think 💭 and make Good Choices👍🏻

We have been creating a charter for our outdoor learning and exploring the outdoor learning areas at the school. We used our hand prints to sign our Outdoor Learning Charter.

At the Trim Trail we were working on our balance and coordination skills.

In PE we have been exploring different equipment that we will be using. This week we have forced on throwing and catching.

We hope you have a lovely weekend ☺️

Rannoch Class

In class, we worked on joining in with group times, taking turns at the teaching table, and sharing learning with adults and friends. We also practised important routines like snack and lunchtime, helping us to build independence.

It has been a busy and positive week, full of opportunities to learn, play and grow together!

P4/3 Rights and Responsibilities

Children's Rights and Responsibilities < WithoutStress.com

We have been learning about Rights and Responsibilities.  Rights are  needs or the things that we should all have.  These are things like the right to learn by going to school, the right to a name, the right to have your say, the right to play or the right to be safe.  Rights protect you in every day life, regardless of who you are or where you come from.  Children’s rights help make sure they are safe, healthy, heard and can be themselves.

We also have responsibilities.  These are things we are expected to do, such as following rules, being kind and helpful to others.

What are some of your responsibilities?

Each of us has different responsibilities in our lives.  At home, you could be responsible for tidying your room or putting shopping away.  At school, you could help your teacher or be a buddy to someone who needs help.  In your community, you can help to protect the environment by putting rubbish in the bin.

Can your responsibilities change?

As we get older our responsibilities can change.  Your parent or carer looks after you at the moment, but when you grow up you will be more responsible for yourself.  For young children, responsibilities are simple and practical, such as putting away toys, feeding pets, or helping to set the table.

A class charter is a contract that we have devised together as a class. We have specific rights and responsibilities that our class are focusing on and these are displayed on our class charter.  The charter is a reminder of how we should all behave and how we should treat each other in order to respect the rights of every single member of our class.

Our thoughts…

Amber – I have the right to have healthy food to eat and clean water to drink.  I have the right to have a name when I was born.  I have the right to go to school.  I have the right to play and rest.  I have the right to be heard.

Riley – We all have rights and responsibilities and as you get older you get more responsibilities.  I have a right to play and my responsibility would be to not play for too long on video games as it could give you a sore head.

Jorja – We made a class charter and we all signed it.  We agreed to make sure we are responsible with our actions and we should not take other people’s rights away from them.

Grace – The UNCRC has 54 articles and it tells us what the rights are.  Number 1 tells us that all children under (age) 18 have all the rights.  Rights are important as they keep us safe, healthy and happy.

Jude – We have the right to play and the responsibility is to be kind and share and show friendship.

Philip – Rights are important because they protect you.

Oonagh – We are learning about all of the rights and we have a class charter telling you more about it.  We all signed the charter.  My favourite right is the right to have your own religion and beliefs.
