P4/3 had a fantastic trip today to Deep Sea World. We saw lots of different fish and animals. We especially enjoyed going through the tunnel and trying to spot the sharks. We learned lots about the seals and saw them being fed and we had an informative session in the classroom which really made us think about how we get rid of our rubbish and to try to recycle more.

Pancake Tuesday in P4/3
We have had a very busy first day back. Today is Pancake Tuesday and we all had the chance to flip our own pancakes. We know that tomorrow is the beginning of Lent and it is tradition to use up all the ingredients the day before Ash Wednesday and to make pancakes. Some of us liked chocolate spread on our pancakes and some of us liked syrup and some of us had both!
At the end of the day we were very lucky to get to watch a show! A theatre company came into school and performed ‘Treasure Island’. We all loved it! Some of the character were funny and we enjoyed shouting out and booing for the baddy.
Sports leaders in P4/3
We are very lucky to have 4 sports leaders from West Calder High School who will be working with us for a block of multi sports. This is to help them to achieve their Level 6 Sports Academy. We have loved playing the warm up games and all the different stations they have organised for us. Today we focused on ball skills, throwing, catching, passing and working as a team.
Thank you.
P4/3 New year, new house corner
At the beginning of the new term we had our business meeting to decide what we wanted our house corner to be. Jenson chaired the meeting and Macie took the minutes. Everyone had lots of great ideas but in the end, after a fair vote, it was decided to turn it into a Starbucks. Everyone has been busy designing and creating different parts of the coffee shop for play. We designed the outside and inside, we have a drive through window with a headset to speak to the customers, a road and some cars. We made menus, snacks, cakes, drinks, ice cubes, a fridge for storage and lots more. We look forward to having lots of time to play and learn in our new area.
A new term in P4/3
We have had a very busy start to the new term.
Out new IDL topic is Our Community. We started by looking at the difference between our wants and needs. We now know that our needs are the things we require to live and be healthy whereas our wants are things that make our life more comfortable.
We then investigated the services that are available in our Community to help with our wants and needs.
Jorja – We have a doctors surgery
Siena – We have fire fighters
Amber – We use the Vets
Jenson – There is a police station
Evan – We have shops for food
In maths we have started our work on Multiplication. We used lots of practical equipment to help us learn different strategies to help us. We can use repeated addition, skip counting and arrays. P3 have been working on the 2 and 5 times tables and P4 have been working within the 3 and 4 times tables.
Panto time p4/3
We really got into the Christmas mood after watching the pantomime. We went to see Sleeping Beauty at the theatre in Bathgate. It was a great day. We enjoyed booing for the nasty queen and cheering for the huntsman and Snow White. The dwarves were very funny.
P4/3 Christmas Party
P4/3 had great fun this week at the Christmas Party. We played pass the parcel and the corners game. We loved dancing to our favourite K-Pop songs, we really have some fantastic dancers. We also loved dancing to some of the old classics like the cha cha slide and the Macarena. We had some yummy party food and then topped off the day with a Gillespies ice-cream. We were extremely lucky to have a very special visitor, Santa! He managed to take time out of his busy schedule to come and check we have been good this year and he gave us all a sweetie. Thank you Santa!
