Primary 5

This week we have a had a  busy week in Primary 5.  We started our new topic A Weekend in Pumpherston and Uphall Station.   We had to think of how the land is used in our local area and made a table to show  places to work, relax, live and places of interest.   This week we have also been enjoying learning how to play Handball in PE.  We have to keep practising as we are going to a Handball Festival in December.  We also had a Zumba taster session which was great fun as well as good for our bodies.

P1 Reflective Learning

This week, P1 have been learning about labels.

First, we looked at fireworks on a video and looked at what shape they were, what colour they were and what noise they made.

Then, we went and drew our own fireworks on black card, making sure they were different shapes and colours. Then, we wrote a label next to our firework. We had words like BOOM, BANG, FIZZ and POP. We tried to write letters that we already knew.

Until next week…

P1 🙂

P3

Primary 3 made and took home their time capsules this week.  They are going to bury it so future generations can discover what life was like for us in 2013. Our capsule included a letter explaining what life was like for a child in 2013  and pictures of  the current popular fashion, sweets, music and toys.

p6 weekly blog

Blog for Monday 7th Oct 2013-10-04

We were really pleased to hear that Declan won second prize for the Bake Off Competition last week.

This week Ben Salvin was elected as our Pupil Council Representative.

We all enjoyed being out and about in Pumpherston this week doing our litter pick. We enjoy helping in our community.

Next week is parent’s night so we are all looking forward to hearing our good reports.

Primary 3

Primary 3 have  been travelling back in time in their time machine to research how Victorian children lived.  We worked together to create a display of Victorian children for our classroom. We had great fun today on our wellie and onesie walk!

Saving Scottish Animals

We had a very special visitor in school today. All of our classes got the chance to meet Lee, who is an animal rescue officer with the Scottish SPCA.  We learned lots about how we can help protect animals here in our community, how dangerous litter can be and what to do if we see an animal in trouble.  She taught us to stay safe, tell an adult and contact the SSPCA for help.  Here is a link to their website http://www.scottishspca.org/

P1 Reflective Learning

In Primary 1 we have been learning new sounds.

We have already learned…

‘P’ – is pink and we use our lips
‘A’ – is black and we use our tunnel
‘S’ – is light blue and is a quiet tongue sound
‘C’ – is yellow and is a throat sound
‘M’ – is red and we use our lips

See if YOU can remember all of the sounds and colours we learned this week.

Good luck.. We’ll be testing you!

Primary 1 & Miss McLaughlin

P6 weekly blog

We are all pleased to be back to school and we are looking forward to all of the new things we will be learning this term. Our topic this term is the Jacobites. We are hoping to go on a school trip to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre in Edinburgh  to find out more about the Jacobites!

P6 Reflections on learning

“I was successful when I learned fractions with Mrs Campbell because I had forgotten how to do fractions.”

“The best part about Thursday was Golden Time because we played fair and nobody cheated so that made it better”

“This week I enjoyed the Magik Circus where we focused on the mood and atmosphere.”

“Last week all the p6’s got to sit at the tables outside because p7’s where at camp!”

“Since Miss McLennan told us she’d like to know what we’ve been up to lately,  this is what I’ve been up to – I was at horse riding on Monday and on a pony called Sam and on Thursday.  When I had my private lesson,  I was on my favourite horse called Monty. On my maths test I got 20/20.” Amy

“I liked it when we were colouring with the pastels and I loved drawing the whole school from that height.”   Holly

“I liked Tuesday when it was P.E. because we went outside in the playground. We were sprinting and I also liked when we were doing P.E. with p5 it was really fun. ”  Zoe
