Primary 6 Blog

For writing, we have been writing All About Me using descriptive writing.

In reading, we have been reading about the Talisman, book number 3 focusing on the “oe” phoneme.

We have been continuing to read The Boy at the Back of the Class – we read chapters 13 and 14 this week and did some comprehension and prediction tasks.

In numeracy, some of us have been learning about decimal place value. Other groups have been rounding up whole numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We went outside for some number games and consolidated our learning by using playing cards.

For PE we have been playing basketball and doing circuits.

In topic we drew posters based on what we have already learned.

We made sculptures in art.

Primary 4

This week in primary 4 we have been working hard on using adjectives in our descriptive writing. We took inspiration from our class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and tried to describe some of the main characters.

We have also been learning about the different sections of descriptive writing through our PM writing big book. The text in the book focuses on the moon so we decided to link our writing to our topic by writing about the earth.

Primary 7 weekly overview

Another busy week of learning in Primary 7 this week.

We are just beginning to learn about using mixed media in Art. We are creating images of soldiers during WW2, showing the different emotions felt by them during this time.

We had great excitement on Thursday afternoon as we have started work on our World War Two garden with Sarah-Jane. We will be clearing the beds, digging the soil over and eventually planting some crops ready for the spring. We are hoping for some dry weather over the next couple of weeks so we can get outside and work on this project.

Our House and Vice captain elections take place on Wednesday and we are all excited about these. We are also feeling a bit nervous too.

Have a great weekend.

P3 Weekly Update

This week have enjoyed learning more about our topic – ‘On Our Doorstep’. We continued our learning from last week where we learned about the different types of house within the local area. We used our plans to help us create a model house. We explored what the term ‘renewable energy’ was and what we could add to our houses to help them become more eco-friendly.

We added wind turbines, solar panels and a well.

Primary 4

This week in Primary 4 we have been exploring our feelings through the emotion woks programme. So far we have thought about all the different words we can use to descibe how we are feeling (the orange cog) and how certain emotions physically feel in our bodies (the red cog).

Well done to this weeks certificate winners – Alfie and Reece.

Well done to our achievement assembly winners – Lucy and Scarlett (for their fantastic SHANARRI powerpoint) and Isabella (for her fantastic piece of free writing).
