Miss M 🙂
Last week we focused on our nativity performances which we hope you all enjoyed coming to watch. We enjoyed being part of this experience and sharing it with you all!
Throughout the week we managed to squeeze time in to complete our exposition piece of writing. We wrote a persuasive letter to Santa where we shared our thoughts on how we thought 2022 had went. We then got the opportunity to post our letters to the North Pole and are awaiting our response from Santa.
A big well done to Primary 1 who gave a fantastic performance in this year’s nativity, Magical Christmas Journey. The boys and girls have worked hard the last few weeks, learning the songs and practising their lines. Everyone looked wonderful in their costumes yesterday and Mrs Strachan was very proud of you all!😊
Here are what a few of the children said about being in the nativity.
Cooper: I liked getting to speak on the microphone.
Bessie : I was sparkly and I liked it
Murray: The song about baby Jesus sleeping was my favourite.
Harvey: I liked being a King and saying “Greetings” and “We come from the East”.
Jaxson: Follow the star was my favourite song.
This week we have been focusing on our nativity performance of ‘The Magical Christmas Journey’ where we have spent most of our week getting this ready for all parents and carers to attend next week. We are so excited for you all to come and see the performance next week!
In between our nativity practices, we have been learning more about our topic ‘The Rotten Romans’. We have been learning about what a day in the life of a Roman school child would be like as well as Roman numerals.
Below is a link to the song we have been using to help us:
For reading last week, primary 6 were focusing on questioning.
Miss Fleming introduced a new book to the class called The Weather Weaver by Tamsin Mori. The book was wrapped up in Christmas paper – once we opened it up, we predicted what the story was going to be about by looking at the front cover and reading the blurb. We then looked at a chart to create questions. Whilst I read the story, children came up with questions on their whiteboards – these questions came from the first 2 pages of the book! Primary 6 cannot wait to find out how these questions will be answered.
This week in Primary 3 we have been busy working hard in all areas of our learning. We are excited for you to see our ‘Wonderful Week of Work’ jotters and bring them home and show off our work form this week.
We have created our craft for the Christmas Fayre on Friday 2nd December 2022.
We developed our knowledge of what makes a good friend and discussed the qualities that we look for in a good friend. We are looking for these everyday in the classroom, in the playground and at home and to show these qualities to others.
James from Broxburn United FC joined us this week for our 4th week of Fun Fitness Friday. We were learning what it means to be ‘physically active’.
Anti Bullying Week 2022 – we have been learning about how we can reach out to others if we are being bullied or if we see someone being bullied. We have learned that we can speak to a trusted adult, include everyone and be kind to others. For Anti-Bullying week, we also had discussions about texting and what is appropriate. We looked at scenarios if someone was receiving hurtful text messages and how we could respond to this.
Art – We have been learning how to create a silhouette by creating a background where we blend colours from dark to light with white paint. We looked at the contrast this made when painting the silhouette of a tree over the background.
Topic – for our news topic, we have been learning about Fake News. The children have identified what makes a news story fake, by thinking about the source, the date, who has written it and if the article has been shared anywhere else. We have also explored different news outlets through a scavenger hunt to find different articles and what makes it newsworthy.
Book Week 2022 – For book week, the children watched an Author’s Live with the author Anthony Horowitz, the writer of the Alex Rider books. Here is what the children had to say about it
Here is a copy of the Home Learning choice board for TERM 2. I have also posted a copy onto the Primary 4 Teams Page. Below the grid there is instructions on how to upload any completed work into your own folder on the home learning channel of our team.

Thanks Miss McGregor 🙂
This week we have celebrated World Book Day and Anti-Bullying in school. We have taken part in a lot of different activities to share our passion for reading and improving our understanding of what bullying is.
In Numeracy, we have been focusing on skip counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and began counting in 4s yesterday. We used concrete materials and a 100 square help our learning.
We worked collectively to create our very own Rotten Romans timeline for our class display. We now have an understanding of what a timeline is for and used our knowledge of ordering numbers to help with this task.
