CLUB WILD – A bounty of vegetables

What a year it has been in the school garden. What a magnificent bounty of vegetables we have produced. Every child from Primary 1 to Primary 7 has had a hand in sowing, growing and caring, harvesting and preparing our tasty vegetables from potatoes, carrots and beetroots to onions, courgettes and tomatoes.

We have also enjoyed watching all the wildlife that visit the garden with lots of birds, bees and butterflies to see. We loved watching the caterpillars munching and growing bigger every day and someone even saw a little rabbit enjoying the greens.

There are potatoes in store for the winter months and plenty more vegetables to harvest. Some more than others will be looking forward to eating the Brussel sprouts. On Monday at Club Wild we picked, dug up and prepared some of the produce for our annual vegetable sale. It was great fun being market stall holders. We decided on prices, ways to display and sell the veg.

Thank you to everyone who visited the stall. We made over £80 which we will use for the school garden next year and for other outdoor learning. If you would like to tell or show us what you made with our veg, we would love to know. There are so many things that can be made with such fresh, tasty , grown in our school garden , veg.
