Stop Press! We’ll be on the radio!
We had great fun on Tuesday when Forth One presenters Boogie and Arlene came with their producer to record in our school. We are one of the very few schools in West Lothian to be chosen for this feature on the Breakfast show. We sang Jingle Bell Rock, then we all wished Forth One listeners a Merry Christmas, and got the chance to sing ‘Boogie in the Morning’ jingle too! Then Boogie spoke to some of our children about Christmas, asking what they like about it, and they each shared a festive joke.
The recordings made with Boogie and Arlene will be broadcast on Radio Forth One (97.3 FM) on Friday 13th December at 7:40 am.Â
P6 Christmas Fair goodies
In P6 we have been looking at persuasive writing. Molly Gilles and Kristinna Sharp produced a fantastic advert each to persuade you to come to our Christmas Fayre. The children have been working with P7 to produce a range of goodies to sell at the fair. Also P5, P6 and P7 have been practising some lovely Christmas carols to entertain you with at the Fair! See you on Friday!
Reading Showcase – The Reading Journey from Nursery to P7
We were delighted to welcome so many parents and carers to our learning showcase event held on Wednesday 27th November. We know that parents are keen to support their child’s learning and we were glad to share the approaches used to develop reading from Nursery to Primary 7. There was a short presentation about reading given by Miss Speirs, then the children shared their learning with our guests and showed how reading skills are taught in our school. There was an amazing turnout with over 100 visitors on the night. Thank you to everyone who joined us, it was great to see you there.
Happy Hanukkah!
Three of our classes have been learning about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah which takes place around the world this week. Primary 6 used the internet to find out about the story behind the celebration, with armies in battle and a very special bottle of oil. They watched video clips of Hannukah celebrations and learned how to play the Driedel game. A team from P6 then visited Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 to play the game with them and share their learning. This game was first played to help the Jewish children learn their letters and sounds in secret. When we played it this week we learned new letters, practised our counting skills and showed what good sports we are when our friends won our tokens!

This week we have been very busy rehearsing for our Jacobite assembly which will take place on Thursday 21st of November at 1 pm. We are all hoping you will be able to come so we can share with you what we have learnt about the Jacobites.
We are also very excited because we have been picked to take part in Radio Forth’s Carols at Christmas! Radio Forth will be coming to the school to record the whole school singing a Christmas carol which will be broadcast on Radio Forth on the run up to Christmas.
P6 weekly blog
This week we took part in the Rights Respecting Schools whole school assembly. The right we had been learning about was ‘ we all have the right be the best you can be and be proud of ourselves’. We showed what we had been learning through a drama, a powerpoint and posters.
