Reminders for Friday 20th December
A reminder that it is our Christmas Assembly is on, on Friday 20th December and everyone is invited. Come and join us for a cuppa at 9:00am and the assembly will start at 9:10am. The final raffle tickets will also be on sale and we will draw the raffle after the assembly.
It is a Christmas Dress Down Day to raise money for Magale, if children are dressing down can they please make donation.
There will be a sale at break time for the children with items left over from the Christmas Fayre and parties. If children wish to make a purchase it will be 50p. All profits will go to school funds.
Mother Goose Panto
Today Hopscotch visited us and performed Mother Goose. We all had a fantastic time and loved joining in with the cast!
Parent Portal
Dear parent/ carer,
The letter below was issued to all parents in June through groupcall from West Lothian Council. 50% of our school families are now using this service.
It is important that ALL our families sign up to use this service for a number of reasons:
- It the expectation from West Lothian Council that all families use this service unless you have no access to the internet.
- You will complete the annual data check process electronically.
- You can update your own as well as your child’s details at any time.
- EE2 forms will be completed on this portal.
This will also improve communication between home and school, use less paper and protect our admin staff’s time (due to a reduction in hours).
The annual data check has been issued from West Council through Parent Portal. We therefore request that you sign up as soon as possible, as it is essential that we have up to date information about your child and their emergency contact details.

Dear Parent/GuardianIn support of West Lothian Council’s ambition to transform communications between parents/carers we have been working with national partners to develop a “Parents Portal”.
The portal is designed to replace the ‘schoolbag run’, giving parents online access to a range of school-related services. At the heart of the system is a secure online account through mygov.scot which is referred to as a ‘My Account’, and this is already used in all West Lothian schools to enable parents to make online payments.
Initially, this new service will introduce basic information about your child’s school and will allow you to:-
- link to your child
- view school calendar
- view your child’s class timetable (for pupils in secondary school)
- view your child’s attendance
- complete the annual data check process electronically
- update your own as well as your child’s details at any time
- access Parent Zone and MyWestLothian
- access online school payments (iPayImpact)
As the product develops we look forward to seeing more services introduced including electronic permission slips and consent forms.
This is an exciting first phase of a new initiative which enables and creates a digital relationship between parents, pupils and schools.

On signing up to the portal, you will be able to link to your child and gain access to the above named services which are currently available. Please note this service is only available to Primary and Secondary children. In order to link to your child the data you provide during the sign up process must match the most up-to-date data that your child’s school holds.

Christmas Jumper Reminder
A gentle reminder that if children have a Christmas jumper they can wear it to school on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th for the Christmas Lunch and Panto. They should wear it along with their usual uniform. If children do not want to wear a Christmas jumper, please wear their usual school uniform.

Author Visit from Will Wood
As part of book Week Scotland we had an author visit from Will Wood, the author of The Fairy with the Broken Wings. He worked with P4, 5, 6 and 7, exploring his novel and sharing how he became an author.
Thank you so much to Ms Cook for organising this visit and to Mr Wood for his time.
He sent us this very thoughtful and inspiring message:
Deep in the heart of West Lothian is a small town named Livingston. On the very edge there is two smaller areas, Pumpherston and Uphall Station and in their midst they share a building. The building itself is not very big, but what it lacks in size it gains in potential, for within its walls it contains something very special.
Future Doctors, Scientist, Medics, Nurses, Fire and Police men and women. Movie stars,singers and dancers, musicians, Olympians and sports idols. Prime Ministers and MP’s, soldiers, sailors, tinkers and tailors, bankers and backers, the Jacks and Jills of all trades and walks of life.
They are not aware of this yet but the vacancies will be theirs to fill fifteen or twenty years from now. Their responsibility is to learn and fulfill their dreams, their teachers’responsibility is to provide the basic tools and the encouragement they require.
I wish you the very best that life can offer, behave, be good, be patient and most of all, believe in yourself.
Remember what you wrote beneath your names and go for it.

Book Week Scotland Assembly
On Friday we had an assembly to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

We presented the Sum Dog Reading Competition winners with a certificate.
The Literacy Leaders also presented the winning authors with their certificate and book tokens.
We also dressed up as characters from our favourite books.
Congratulations to our Living our Values children.
Be a Book Week Author
As part of Book Week Scotland our Literacy Leaders launched a free writing competition – Be a Book Week Author.
On Friday at assembly we announced our winners and presented them with a certificate and book gift voucher.
A big well done to our winners and thank you to the Literacy Leaders, Ms McLaughlin and Mrs Mooney for organising the competition and selecting the winners.
