A taste of French Cuisine in Primary 1 and 1/2
Bonjour! Here are some photos of Primary 1/2 having their snack in the French cafe style last week. Â Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have been learning about different French food and got to taste baguette as they drank their milk.
We used french to say please and thank you to the waiters and to count out the money to pay the bill at the end. Â Au revoir!
Primary 2 RME
Primary 2 have been making mezuzahs and learning about Jewish things and we know everything about mezuzahs. Â by Andrew

P5 Camp
What an exciting week we had at camp. Unfortunately we were unable to update the blog as we had no internet connection but  Miss Anderson and Mrs Bonner managed to take loads and loads of photos.
We ate and slept in the Henderson Building but most of the time we were outside with our instructors Ryan and Stevie. We took part in so many activities that it is difficult to remember them all – luckily we kept camp diaries. Our food was brilliant and everyone slept for at least 6 hours both nights.
One of our favourite activities was the night walk that we went on with the camp warden, Bob. We walked around the camp and were able to visit the grounds of Fordell Castle. We saw many different types of trees and plants. We also saw at least one deer and a bat flew over us.
We really have so much to share that this post would go on for ever so instead we’ll share a few photos…
Primary 4
This week Primary 4 really enjoyed learning about life in Uganda at assembly from our special visitors, Mr and Mrs Comrie. We learnt that people in Uganda need mosquito needs to keep them safe from Malaria and we were surprised to hear that many of the things we take for granted here, like pencils, are difficult for schools over there to get.
In Maths this week we have been learning about fractions. We know that 1/2 is the same as 2/4 and we can use our division skills to help us find a 1/3 and 1/5 of a number.
We have also been learning about alliteration. We identified the use of alliteration in poems and then used this knowledge to write our own. Â We will post some examples of our alliterative poems soon!

P6 weekly blog
We are helping Mrs Hull to organise the school ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ event – a sponsored skipping event on Friday 9th May. Â We have sorted out a timetable for classes, drafted the letter for parents and counted out the sponsor forms. Â We checked how many skipping ropes we have and will be practising our skipping skills.
Tomorrow we are going to Pumpherston Bowling Club. We will need to wear flat plimsolls or gym rubbers.
Our topic for this term is The Local Community and we are currently practising our class talks about clubs and activities that take place in our community.
Back to School and ready for Camp…
This week we have written our entries for the West Lothian Young Writer competition. Fingers crossed one of us will win!
Literacy
We have been describing items using only a few words. It was pretty difficult to describe some items – but others were easier. See if you can describe a bee in 5 words. The best answer will win a prize from Miss Anderson’s prize box.
Numeracy and Maths
On Tuesday Mrs McCulloch introduced our new maths topic – Time. We will be learning lots about time over the next few weeks. We have started BIG Maths again and are looking forward to seeing improvements in our speed of recall for number bonds and table facts. We will continue with number work for a few weeks (times tables, missing numbers, number sequences and place value) before moving onto fractions of objects and fractions of numbers. We really have to learn our times tables for this – hopefully BIG Maths will help.
ICT across Learning
We are working hard to get used to using Glow. Miss Anderson has shown us all how to log into Glow and is busy working on getting passwords for everyone in the class. Hopefully everyone will have their password by this time next week. Everyone who has their password has access to the Primary 5 page (a link will be in an email on Glow). There is also a direct link for Brainpop, which means that pupils don’t need to log in to Brainpop. Other resources available on Glow include Twig on Glow (aimed at P5-P7) and Tig Tag (Aimed at P1 – P5).

Primary 7
P7 were lucky to have a school trip on their first day back after Easter. Â They visited the Risk Factory on Tuesday.
I’m afraid we can’t share anymore with you as what goes on there is a bit of a secret however we learned lots while having great fun!
Primary 1 and 1/2 radio show! Coming soon!
In RME this week we listened carefully to the CBeebies radio show about Leo’s special day – Easter Sunday. We learned that he had spent the day hunting eggs on a farm, rolling some eggs down a hill, then his mum cooked the eggs and he had one for lunch with toast soldiers.
We thought about what we did at Easter in our families. Then we recorded our own radio show! Mrs Hull is hoping to add it to the blog very soon so you can listen to the things we did at Easter. It’s very eggciting to hear our voices on the computer. How did you celebrate in the Easter holidays? Leave your comments here for us to see.
Primary 5 say farewell to Kenya
This week in Primary 5 we have been finishing off learning about Kenya. We celebrated this through our open evening last night and by handing in our personal projects this morning. Miss Anderson is very impressed with the quality and presentation of our projects and we hope you are too.
