We love hearing about your achievements from outside school. Today two of our P3 pupils showed us their medals that they won at a Kick Master competition in Meadowbank over the weekend.
Primary 1
This week P1 have continued to learn new sounds. Â We are confident with lots of sounds now so have started to write some 3 letter words more independently. Â This weeks sounds were ‘o’ and ‘g’ so we could build words like ‘dog’ and ‘got’.
For maths we have been practising counting forward and backward from different numbers, recognising numbers and saying what comes before or after. Â Some numbers have been quite tricky to write so we will be trying different ways to learn and practise these.
In topic, we have been listening to and talking about fairytale stories. Â We have enjoyed acting out the stories using puppets, sequencing the story and making masks for the characters. Â The Fairytale Land knights were also busy in the school playground today protecting their castle.
P3 Class Trip
Yesterday P3 took a trip to New Lanark to learn about the Victorians. We got to try on Victorian style clothing and explore a Victorian classroom, home and shop. We also took a ride on the Annie McLeod experience to learn more about life as a Victorian child and the village of New Lanark.
P3 were enthusiastic, respectful and very well behaved throughout the trip – Mrs Cullum was very proud of them all! Thank you to Ms Ross, Ms Matthews and Ms Swavlowska for helping us out.

Stand Up To Cancer!
Ava B – “We were learning how to say our numbers to 31 in French so we can say our birthdays”
Abbie – “We have been creating place value posters to show our learning”
Rosa – “We have been looking at rhythm with Miss Mulholland. We played a game called Hot Potato to help us”
This week, we raised money for Stand Up To Cancer. We all wore orange and donated a pound for the charity.
P3 Blog
Mrs Cullum is very happy to be back with Primary 3! Today, we reflected on our learning by telling Mrs Cullum what we had learned over the past couple of weeks. Here are some of the things we told her about:
Maths – we have been learning about before and after numbers, as well as talking about tens and units. Today the squares and rectangles took this even further by learning about hundreds.
Health and Wellbeing – we learnt about different feelings and how to recognise them. We really enjoyed our first Roots of Empathy family visit!
Social Studies – in our Victorian topic we have been comparing the life of a child today to that of a child in the Victorian era. We learned about Victorian workhouses and what life was like there.
Art – we continued practising how to create a self-portrait. This time we used pastels and linked with our learning in HWB by creating self-portraits showing different emotions.
Fantastic Fundraisers!
We are so proud of Rosa and Darcy.  Over the weekend they decided to raise money for the school by making and selling slime.  Rosa told me the recipe and it is very complicated!  The girls were amazing role-models and fantastic entrepreneurs, raising £66!  Well done girls – be very proud of yourselves as responsible citizens and contributors.
P7 Kingswood Camp Presentation
Many thanks to those who attended this evening’s presentation on P7 camp. Â For those that could not make it, the presentation is available to download here: Â P7 Kingswood Camp Presentation 2017.
Primary 1
P1m and P1s have been very busy and learning lots of new things.
Each classroom has started to build their own Fairytale Land castle.  We had to find out about the different parts of castles so we could make it look like a real castle from the past.  We have made the castle walls look like stone and made sure the battlements were at the top.
For Maths week, we practised our number formation by writing numbers in icing on biscuits. Â They tasted lovely and we remembered that we need to clean our teeth after sweet treats!
Our school garden has lots of vegetables ready to harvest at the moment so P1 helped to pick the potatoes. Â We then had to wash, peel, cut, mash and cook them. Â Our potato feast was ready just in time for Thursday snack –Â mashed potato and wedges. Â We all enjoyed having a wee try!

Primary 7
This week it was maths week. It was really fun because we entered the Scottish Sumdog maths competition. We also did a toothpick challenge where we had to build a 2 x 2 and a 4 x 4 square and we weren’t allowed to count them one by one so we had to use a strategy to figure out how many toothpicks we used. Then we did a 13 x 13 square for a challenge as well. We also did a Pascal’s Triangle challenge where we had to figure out a number pattern that’s continued to complete the triangle then we had to use the pattern to create our own triangle.
We used our reflection page to identify that we needed to use more complex connectives to write our own story. We wrote more sentences using complex connectives to help us to use them in our own writing.
