House and Vice Captains

Our P7 Young Leaders had the opportunity to stand for House Captain this session.  They made videos for all pupils to see and then there was a vote from all the pupils in each house.  We are proud to introduce our House and Vice Captains for this session.

Friday Parent Craft Club – all welcome

Tomorrow at craft club we are trying our hands at decoupage under the expert tuition of Danielle. It’s a great way of upcycling picture frames, boxes and other things. Please come along between 10:30 and 12:25 if you would like to give it a try and have a good chat at the same time. Coffee, tea, cake and juice to be had and there are crafts and toys for younger children.

Thanks, Sarah-jane

Support with School Uniform

As a school we are provided with a small fund of money each session to support parents in cases where buying essential clothing for school is a financial hardship.

We appreciate that it is not always easy to ask for help, however if you are struggling to provide school uniform, shoes or other essential parts of school clothing we may be in a position to help towards part of the cost.

Please be aware that it is a small amount of money we have and can only help in extreme cases.  Where necessary we would purchase the items on your behalf, we are not able to distribute funds directly.  Please do get in touch with Mr Eagleson or Miss Morrison if you need to discuss this.

Scottish Government Survey on Early Learning and Childcare

Copied from email:

As you’ll be aware the Scottish Government is planning to nearly double the hours of free early learning and childcare by 2020. Because the views of parents and carers are crucial for the success of this expansion, the Government has commissioned independent researchers to undertake a survey of parents. It is now asking for your help in sharing the survey link (www.bit.ly/elc-survey) with as many parents of 0-5 year old children in your community as possible.

All parents taking part will have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw and have the chance to win one of 10 x GBP100 cash prizes.

The survey is carried out for the Scottish Government by Craigforth, an independent research company. If you have any questions about this survey please send a message to: survey@craigforth.co.uk

The Daily Mile

Perhaps you’ve heard your children talking about the Daily Mile and wonder what it’s all about?  The Daily Mile is a global initiative, started in Scotland, to help instil a healthy habit of daily exercise in young people.

The information below explains the principles behind it and the link below will answer some of the most common questions on the Daily Mile Website. The Daily Mile is inclusive for all children and all ages and is an important part of building a healthy Scotland.

See you on Tuesday!

Summer holidays are almost over and we are looking forward to welcoming you all back for a new school year on Tuesday.  Here are a few things to remember:

Our school uniform is black or grey trousers or skirt, white or blue polo shirt or a white shirt and tie with a blue school cardigan or jumper (black in P7).

Pupils need sensible outdoor shoes and safe indoor shoes (not slippers).

We do not allow football colours, hoodies worn in class, leggings worn as trousers, dangling jewellery, make-up of any kind, nail polish or fake nails.  We discourage “extreme” hairstyles and would appreciate your support with this.

Many thanks for your support in keeping our school fantastic.

Always an exciting time – we all remember getting our new pencil cases.  Please bear in mind that while school will provide resources where required it is very useful for pupils to bring their own equipment.  This helps pupils with organisation, taking care of property and makes it easier to quickly get on with their work.

What is required will vary with the stage of your child, but all children should come to school every day with pencil, rubber, ruler and be ready to learn. Coloured pencils are also very useful for children in P2 upwards.

Remember please that pupils in P1-P3 are entitled to a free lunch every day, while P4-P7 must pay for this.  School lunch is currently £1.97 and pupils choose in the morning from a choice of two hot meals and a Sandwich option; pupils may also bring a packed lunch from home.  Remember that you can pay for and select your child’s meal through our iPay system online; ask at the office for details.

For P2-P7 pupils Breakfast club is open from 8:10 every morning, accessed from the deck and run by Mrs Bonner and Mrs Boyce.  This is free for all pupils.  P1 pupils may attend breakfast club after the September weekend.

Please remember that there is no supervision at school before Breakfast Club starts at 8:10.  Pupils are not allowed in the playground before 8:30.

Please do not park dangerously or illegally in front of school and only bring your car into the school area if absolutely necessary.  We all look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

warm regards, Steven Eagleson – Headteacher
