Delay

I have also emailed to inform you that there has been a delay in the date of my leaving PUSCPS and Sarah Burton taking over as acting HT.  This will still go ahead, but due to the needs of the larger council service it has been delayed until the 24 November.   We apologise for the confusion but I am pleased to have another few weeks working with such a great and supportive group of pupils, parent body and staff team.

Many thanks,

Primary 2

Last week, Primary 2 had a set of special challenges!

We received another letter from Mary Anning, asking us to rebuild a stegosaurus skeleton! We used salt dough bones we had made and the bones we were sent weeks ago to try to make a stegosaurus shape. Little did we know that finishing the skeleton meant a session of TIME TRAVEL! We travelled back to prehistoric times, where we received another letter and an egg-shaped parcel… from Stig the Stegosaurus!

Poor Stig had lost his mummy and needed us to build somewhere safe for his egg. We worked in groups to make nests and had to make sure they fit our steps to success.
They were:
*soft, warm and comfortable
*strong
*made from outside materials

Have a look at how we did below! Which nest is your favourite?

Check in with us to see what our next challenge is!

Until then…

Primary 7

This week with Ms Pender we were doing basketball and first of all everyone got a ball and you had to try and tackle another person without your ball going out of control. After that we did matches of three vs three line ball .                                                                                                                     This week in maths we did multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000.  We also multiplied by multiples of 10 and by two digits.

This week we were working on our World War Two by  posters and we had to make two sides, one showing what life was like then in comparison to present life.

CLUB WILD – A bounty of vegetables

What a year it has been in the school garden. What a magnificent bounty of vegetables we have produced. Every child from Primary 1 to Primary 7 has had a hand in sowing, growing and caring, harvesting and preparing our tasty vegetables from potatoes, carrots and beetroots to onions, courgettes and tomatoes.

We have also enjoyed watching all the wildlife that visit the garden with lots of birds, bees and butterflies to see. We loved watching the caterpillars munching and growing bigger every day and someone even saw a little rabbit enjoying the greens.

There are potatoes in store for the winter months and plenty more vegetables to harvest. Some more than others will be looking forward to eating the Brussel sprouts. On Monday at Club Wild we picked, dug up and prepared some of the produce for our annual vegetable sale. It was great fun being market stall holders. We decided on prices, ways to display and sell the veg.

Thank you to everyone who visited the stall. We made over £80 which we will use for the school garden next year and for other outdoor learning. If you would like to tell or show us what you made with our veg, we would love to know. There are so many things that can be made with such fresh, tasty , grown in our school garden , veg.

P3 Blog: Why do babies cry?

P3 enjoyed another visit from baby Belle today. Here is a summary of today’s Roots of Empathy session:

“Today we were learning about how babies communicate.” (Dylan)

“Belle was crying to show us how she was feeling.” (Eve)

“We could tell Belle didn’t like lying on her belly because she made a squeaking noise and started to squirm.” (Kayden)

“Sometimes when babies cry, you can sing to them to settle them. Belle liked it when we sang to her.” (Lewis)

“When it was time for Belle to go, I don’t think she wanted to leave because she liked our songs so much!” (Brooke)

Primary 2

This week, Primary 2 had a little taste of Italy!

Miss Pintus (Anastasia’s mum) came into our class on Thursday afternoon to teach us to make pasta from scratch!

We needed semolina, water and just a pinch of salt. We made these ingredients into a dough and were shown how to turn this into pasta shapes. We were even allowed to try using proper Italian tools!

We cooked our pasta for just ten minutes and then it was time for the all important tasting! Since there was no pasta left at the end, we award it a massive thumbs up! Miss McLaughin and Layla had a shot at making gluten-free pasta too.

A big thank you to Miss Pintus for coming in to teach us – we had a great time and learned lots!

Check in with us next week to see what we are learning!

Until then…
