Over the past few weeks we have been planting out vegetables in our WW2 garden. Things are growing well and we have been growing seedlings to plant out later on.
Primary 7 weekly catch up
Well another busy week in P7. We had been frantically rehearsing for our Remembrance assembly, showcasing our learning about WW2. We really enjoyed performing and sharing our learning with the rest of the school and our relatives and carers. They were treated to some wartime baking that we had made for them. Mrs Andison was very proud of us all.
On Friday we walked along to the Pumpherston war memorial and laid a wreath in memory of all the fallen soldiers who have lost their lives for us. We had a minutes silence to reflect on what it meant to us all individually.
Our House and Vice Captains went to Broxburn to represent the school at the local Remembrance day service.
We are all looking forward to Book Week next week. We can’t wait to find out what our new book based topic is.
Primary 7 Weekly update
We had a very nerve-wracking week this week as we had fifteen members of our class making presentations for the House Captain elections. Mrs Andison was very proud of all the candidates as they all spoke very well.
It was Maths week Scotland and we had some blether stations all about how Maths and Numeracy are used in our daily lives as well as how they may be used in different jobs. We really enjoyed this. We also did some learning on budgeting where we had to plan a day out for ourselves and a friend.Â
Primary 7 weekly overview
Another busy week of learning in Primary 7 this week.
We are just beginning to learn about using mixed media in Art. We are creating images of soldiers during WW2, showing the different emotions felt by them during this time.
We had great excitement on Thursday afternoon as we have started work on our World War Two garden with Sarah-Jane. We will be clearing the beds, digging the soil over and eventually planting some crops ready for the spring. We are hoping for some dry weather over the next couple of weeks so we can get outside and work on this project.
Our House and Vice captain elections take place on Wednesday and we are all excited about these. We are also feeling a bit nervous too.
Have a great weekend.

Primary 7 Class Charter
We spent a lot of time considering which articles, from the UN convention of the rights of a child, were most suited to us in school.
We read the articles.
Highlighted the one that applied to us in school/class.
We considered the most important to us.
We then thought how we as Rights Holders could keep these rights and how the adults as Duty Bearers, can help us maintain our rights.

Primary 7 Learning Overview
Here is the overview for this our final term in Primary 7.
Primary 7 weekly update
It was lovely to be back with all our friends again.
We started a new Numeracy topic on volume. We have been learning how to read volume scales on beakers and jugs in millilitres and litres, working out problems with volume and we have begun learning how to calculate the volume of cubes and cuboids in cubic centimetres.
In literacy, we watched a short persuasive animation and tried to work out the message it was showing us. We then looked at the different devices the animator used to persuade us and discussed how effective these were.
In art, we started using the new drawing pencils we got at the end of last term. We learned how to draw a realistic mouth.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Primary 7’s week
Lots of great learning took place in P7 this week.
In Numeracy, we have been revising addition and subtraction of larger numbers and how to use a formal written method. We then used what we had learned and applied it to real world problems. We started with problems using one operation and quickly moved on to problems using more than one operation.
In Literacy, we continued to look at different types of procedures and our focus this week, was recipes. We wrote a plan for our own ultimate sandwich recipe. We will write and illustrate them next week. While we were talking about our ideas for favourite sandwiches we began to feel very hungry 🙂
In Science, we were making circuits with leads, batteries and lights then we had to introduce a switch.
In our IDL topic we are continuing to research Chinese celebrations and festivals as well as looking at our own Scottish ones.
All in all a very busy and enjoyable week.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Primary 7 weekly review
What a quick week it has been.
In Literacy we are focusing on reading and writing procedures. We have discussed all the different types of procedures in everyday life.
In Numeracy/Maths we are continuing area – using formula to calculate the area of composite shapes.
We had a great World Book day on Thursday. We made new book covers for our favourite books, drew favourite book characters and some of us read our favourite parts of our favourite books to the class. Some of us even dressed up for the occasion.
