Primary 7

Primary 7 explored children’s rights and decided which ones would be relevant to include in our class charter.  They talked about Rights Holders and Duty Bearers and discussed how each of these would ensure that everyone’s rights were met.  Next, they suggested ideas for a theme for our class charter.  Aliens received the most votes.  Finally, pupils created their own alien images to show that they agreed with the class charter created.

Primary 4 Learning

This week the children have been writing an explanation to include a title, identifying statement, explanation sequence and summary statement.  They have also included time and sequence words and present tense verbs.

Today they have been demonstrating their ability to use a range of strategies to complete numeracy questions in a Big Maths Click Challenge.

This week, we have had lots of new books delivered for our class library.  The children were so excited and have really enjoyed choosing and reading new books.

P4 Learning

Primary 4 have been developing their drama skills to perform to a class audience.  They have worked in groups to present a range of traditional stories using pace, tone, gesture and expression.  Prior to this they compared and contrasted the content, structure and layout of a drama script to a narrative text.  Comparing these enabled the pupils to develop a better understanding of direct speech and how to punctuate it correctly.

Primary 4 Learning

P4 have been learning about Robert Burns in the context of a Burns Supper.  We had an introduction to Robert Burns and his life.  We listened to Scottish music, learned Scots Poetry and also learned about food that is produced in Scotland.  We also learned about what happens at a Burns Supper and then created our own Scottish Menus on a PowerPoint document in our Teams files.

This week we have been writing a narrative about Billy the Bully, based on the story of George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl.  We have also been working on using the fewest number of coins to make different amounts.  We watched the pantomime of Aladdin and today we made snowman tree decorations.  Here they are for you to have a look.

P4 Learning

As part of our Christmas fun week, pupils have been drawing snowmen using oil pastels.  They used a smudging technique to show shading and shadows.  Here are their super snowmen drawings.

Primary 4

As part of our focus on writing a narrative, we have been working on adverbs.  We have explored how to change adjectives to adverbs, complete sentences using them and then created sentences using adverbs.  Here is an example.

P4 Learning

Primary 4 have been ambitious by writing a book review about George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl.  They have included a statement of position, series of arguments and a concluding statement.  They have also used time and sequence words and sensing verbs.  Here is an example of a completed book review.

P4 Learning

Primary 4 have been confident individuals by using tone, pace and gesture to perform poems linked to their book study topic in front of a whole class audience.

They have also been successful learners by creating t-shirt designs for Children in Need.  Here are some of their designs.
