This week in primary 4 we shared our learning as part of our Explorers topic. We each took turns to present what we had found out about our country. We then set each of our clocks to the correct time zone so we could compare what time it was in different parts of the world.
We also looked at the festival of Diwali and had a go at creating our own Rangoli patterns.

This week in  Primary 4 we have been creating some scottish lanscape pictures. We learned how to create a monochrome effect by using black and white paint mixed with a base colour. We then chose a Scottish landscape/ animal or flower to draw on black paper to create a silhouette effect. Here are some pictures of our work:

We have also enjoyed taking part in the Maths week Scotland challenge on sumdog. Over 6,900 classes took part in the contest and we finished 1091st. Super job everyone!

This week in primary 4 we have been working hard on using adjectives in our descriptive writing. We took inspiration from our class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and tried to describe some of the main characters.

We have also been learning about the different sections of descriptive writing through our PM writing big book. The text in the book focuses on the moon so we decided to link our writing to our topic by writing about the earth.

This week in Primary 4 we have been exploring our feelings through the emotion woks programme. So far we have thought about all the different words we can use to descibe how we are feeling (the orange cog) and how certain emotions physically feel in our bodies (the red cog).

Well done to this weeks certificate winners – Alfie and Reece.

Well done to our achievement assembly winners – Lucy and Scarlett (for their fantastic SHANARRI powerpoint) and Isabella (for her fantastic piece of free writing).

 

To create our class charter we first learned about the UNCRC rights of the child. We then picked out all of the ones we felt were relevant to us in school and took a vote on which ones we wanted for our charter.

We chose articles 12, 16, 29 and 39 and are aware of what they mean for us as rights holders as well as the responsibility of adults as duty bearers.

This week in Primary 2 we have continued to look at measurement, and have started to focus on weight. We used cubes to help us estimate the weight of some objects in our classroom. We then weighed them and compared the actual weight to our estimate.

This week in Primary 2 we have been very busy learning lots of new things.

In maths we started looking at measure and tried measuring different objects in our classroom using our hands and feet. We learned that these are non-standard units of measurement, while rulers and metre sticks are standard units of measurement.

We also started our topic on athletes and began by looking at the human body. We got the chance to work together to draw round each others bodies and tried naming some of our body parts including our 5 main organs and some parts of our skeleton.

Finally, we all worked together to compose our own rhythm thinking about how many beats are in a bar and how long we hold each note for. We tried a 4 beat note, a 2 beat note, a 1 beat note and a half beat note and used these to vary our rhythm. Once we had composed our musical score we all got a percussion instrument and tried to play along altogether. It was super fun and I was very impressed with the musical talent in Primary 2.

This week in Primary 2 and Primary 2/1 we got the opportunity to share our learning on sun safety at assembly. We started off by sharing what we already knew about sun safety.

We then made sun safety posters and created  our artwork for assembly.

Mrs Strachan and Miss McGregor were very proud of everyone’s hard work!
