Do you remember we went to Morrisons in the August to plant bulbs on the grass area at the entrance? BEYC in the news.
Well have you saw what has happened? The bulbs are now starting to flower!
Thank you very much to Dylan and his mummy who have taken photos of the flowers and shared them with us!
Please have a look a the super file they have created……
Fantastic #sharinglearning well done!
Learning about Fair Trade at BEYC
Here are some video clips we have been using to help support children’s understanding of Fair Trade at nursery. Our Fair Trade raffle will hopefully raise enough money to take part in the Toilet Twinning project Flush Away Poverty. Our Fair Trade Raffle will take place on Wednesday 7th March where you can buy tickets for £1 and have a chance to win a beautiful Fair Trade hamper.
Please also see earlier Blog post for more information.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2018
Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from 26th February-12th March 2018. We have been talking about this in nursery and how farmers around the world deserve a fair price for the hard work they do and that Fairtrade products help ensure this happens. This will mean the farmers and their children won’t go hungry, can go to school, can pay for medical care if needed and also have better living conditions.
We are having a Fairtrade raffle on Wednesday 7th March and are looking for Fairtrade products to support this. We have also asked local supermarkets. If you can help, please add your donations to the basket in the foyer. We are supporting this years ‘Toilet Twinning’ program, please take a look at the video below to see how these donations are helping children around the world…
‘Bridget in Uganda used to miss class in order to fetch drinking water from a stream. Now, clean water is piped to a tapstand at her school, thanks to Toilet Twinning. She’s learnt the importance of washing her hands – and she’s passed this info on to her parents’

John Newland Procession 2018
Bathgate Procession—Saturday 2nd June 2018
Bathgate Early Years Centre will be participating in this year’s Procession (Bathgate Galaday) and the theme will be ‘Under the Sea’.
The prototype for the costumes will be on display soon. Once again thanks to Mrs McKay for all her hard work with this—we couldn’t do it without her and we are very lucky to have her back supporting us this year!
We hope that lots of our families will take part in this community event along with some of the staff.
If you and your family are taking part this year please add your names to the lists in the foyer, which are coming soon!
The lists will close Friday 27th of April to ensure we have time to work on the costumes.
Mrs McKay has set up an area where you can come in and make costumes.
Parents /carers/grandparents/relations/family friends all welcome.
PLEASE REMEMBER IT’S UP TO YOU!

Fire Pit Learning at Stay, Play and Learn
Today we have been showing our parents/carers how we safely use the fire pit to make fire and cook a little snack. We have to listen to the nursery ladies and carefully follow the instructions to ensure we are safe because fire is dangerous! Today we melted chocolate and marshmallows inside bananas. It was rather yummy but it was decided by the children we needed more chocolate inside the bananas next time!
